I think these songs would really work in RB3
Fire It Up and Like A Rolling stone are classics (one on terms of rhythm games and the other one on music in general, also keys)
Weird I Didn’t see those from Scars On Broadway on this site.
Would really be glad to chart some of these but getting into Rock Band 3 charting it’s kinda like a shot in the dark, not much info bout’ it. Besides looking in the forums it would be really good to create an easier-to-find way for creating customs, maybe a video or maybe a general page linked beside the website banner.

There are quite a few tutorials on how to make customs out there, that’s how the majority of us got started.
From there it’s a lot of trial & error.
Then with patience & persistence, one day it all comes together.

Seriously? You are posting on the leading community for authoring, with all documents and tools needed, and you thikn there’s not much info about it?

Gotta apologise for not looking deeper into the forums.
But there is a way to welcome someone to the community and treating them like this is not it. Kinda off putting to see one of the main contributors acting like this.
The first reply did it really good, maybe pointing towards tutorials/videos on how to do this would be really helpful for begginers, or even better have a page on the website already explaining these things.
Wish you the better and I hope I come across people more helpful on this community.

Herein lies the problem with your first post & this post.
You did not take 10 minutes of your time to check things out on here before posting that there is nothing to help you get started.
All the info you need to get started is here, you just have to look past the requests thread.
I can attest to this as it is how I got started, no one held my hand.
The good people who run this site have spent literally hundreds if not thousands of hours doing tutorials & documents & creating programs to help people learn.
Most noobies that come on say the same things, no one will help me, where are the hold my hand tutorials etc etc, Can someone make my favorite 58 songs.
They can figure out how to post huge lists of requests & can’t believe their favorite song is not done yet, but won’t take 10 minutes to read the threads that will help them make their own or answer the majority of their questions.
May 11, 2018 at 7:22 pm #497969At the moment I’m watching some videos on how to and thoughout this year and the last I was charting some song from my country artists for Clone Hero.
It takes more than 10 minutes and it’s not that obvious.
Trust me I only suggest songs that would fun for the majority, not everything I like because that would be a little selfish, and Im suggesting because in the time I’m learning to do this someone could see my suggestion and make it before I do.
There’s a thing with the post I made that people are missing, I’am willing to do the extra searching, but people who want to contribute and are new might find it a little bothersome to go and search deep for tutorials.
I was just suggesting songs and my last thought was to make someone go “Maybe we need to streamline the charting for RB guides on the site to not discourage and lose what could be big contributors to the site”
Best wishes for the C3 Community

This has been discussed ad nauseam. Authoring songs requires time, patience, skills and commitment. None of those will ever be found in someone who can’t bothered to even look at a sticky. And it’s fine, only selected few will ever be authors, but not because we haven’t made it even easier. No big contributors are lost if we don’t literally take them by the hand and explain them what to do, only people who would never make it 20 minutes into the authoring of a song.
It’s all part of the process, call it a “You must be THIS proactive to author” requirement, and “THIS” is at least take the time to open the Authoring forum and find the authoring and tools threads. If somebody can’t do that, they can’t become authors, because there is so much you need to search and learn once you start that literally clicking on 2 links is probabily one millionth of the entire process.

Yo, That’s what I’m fucking talking about
I’m not saying to hold their hand, Just a general guide instead of a thousand posts.
Also, not everyone takes care of every part of the song, sometimes the guitar/drums/vocals tracks are made by someone else or the song was Pro notated by a totally different person. I think we should at least consider this:
Peoples comitments are made strong by how they learned to do something and from what I seen myself It can be taught/explained way better and in a less hard to find way.
Remember I want the best for the community, I really do, but the lazyness/careless to make it more accesible it’s really regressive, we should take steps to make people fall in love with the community.
From my experience the last days in these forums were kinda rough
“don’t make this mistake again” (Only for writing about a song that I didn’t know was already in the game)”you didn’t spend 10 minutes reading thought the millions of posts” (can you read my mind? Are you watching me?)
You guys should be more welcoming to the “noobies”.
Pointing in directions to help them create something rather to just writing them off like they didn’t take any time to do something and they are only suggesting.
Guys if I took the time to write on how I could make my chart compatible to RB3 it’s because I’m really interested.
Would have been better if you linked me to what taught you to do all this.
Also the bar that you are setting by saying that they can’t become authors because they don’t hace the time or patience to look for/go through the obscure info is really high, look at the GTA/Skyrim scene there’s so much care and dedication to draw people in that their communities are the most active, with wikis pages and mods constantly coming out at a really fast pace.
Game On

We have my tutorial, the RBN docs, the vocals tutorial, the tempo mapping tutorial… You keep digging a hole with every post.

Perfect, then please do. If you think you can do a better job, I’d be happy to see the result and post it if worthy.

It’s clear you’re not even reading the rules of the forums. “requesting a song that’s already available will now result in a 7 days suspension”. You have been spared the 7 days suspension, if you want to stick around read the rules please.

You are not understanding man… or you don’t want to… Also, don’t make it personal, the hole could go both ways, don’t be so sure.
I’m saying that those tutorials and guides should be displayed in a more obvious way, that doesn’t require that much diggin’ Like in a tab next to Legacy Database.
I’m just starting with this, don’t challenge me, chill man. If someone finds info easier and in a friendly way *ahem* they will stay.
I was thinking idealy of a thread containing images, links, that the whole community could edit or debate on how to, charting: getting started, etc.
Dude I searched the song in the database and I didn’t find it but now I know to check the wiki (that can be displayed too, you know, in the database search page) And really? Just for a pimple simple mistake you are mentioning a 7 day ban, my god you must really like Nintendo, you even used “spared”. You are clearly not understanding my posts I thought that the song wasn’t in any of the games.
I believed that forums were open to ideas and change for the better, I’m just giving criticism.
If you are not gonna take me seriously, don’t reply.
Think On

From the homepage: one click leads to Authoring Tools, Support, & Advice, another click leads you to The complete C3 tutorial for new authors. 2 clicks from the homepage is what you call digging deep. By the way, that tutorial is 3 links above your own thread about problems with customs (the hole deepens). As I told you, if you can’t be bothered to click 2 links or look 3 rows up it’s perfectly fine, we simply need you to be more interested than that to give you help.

And we don’t care, read the rules to know why and respect other people’s time and efforts.

Still assuming things about me and not bothering to understand.
Creating customs for me it’s a big thing, I said that it would be cool to have a new tab or a more obvious way and not resulting to search in the forums because is that important.
“We don’t care” amazing admin support, speak for yourself, maybe some people would like to update the site to welcome new people in a easier, better and encouraging way.
Your lack of undertanding or care is not really that respectful towards my time and efforts to advice on how to make the site easier for “noobies”.
May 14, 2018 at 9:19 am #498046If navigating this forum is too hard, creating customs is a far beyond your abilities at this time. It’s about as easy as creating quality content for the game can be.

Is everyone as careless to understand in this forums?
It’s not about me, I’m saying that it would be *easier* (not saying too hard) if a page was created solely to explain charting, compatibility, animation, troubleshooting, etc.

We have run out of ways to tell you. We have an entire section of this Web site, 2 clicks away from the homepage, with all you need to author. This is how dozens and dozens of authors have started. In 5 years, never once we have seen somebody say “there is no documentation available” before you did. We have seen people saying it’s hard to learn, never once somebody who couldn’t click on the Authoring Tools, Support, & Advice subforum.
And as multiple people have told you, if scrolling through a page is too much for somebody, that somebody does not have yet what it takes to author. It’s like saying that in a car the steering wheel should have “left” and “right” arrows to tell the driver where the car goes if you steer the wheel. If THAT’s what you need, you can’t drive yet, as simple as that.
But maybe we’re all wrong, maybe somebody like you who can’t find the subforum IS ready to author: work on a song, post it and throw it right in our faces. Nothing would make us happier than adding an author to our community. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif”>
