Advice on tempo mapping section of song pls

So I am having trouble with the tempo map from 167 where there are 10 – 11 measures of the main part of the song ending (the grand finale (almost like a big rock ending)) before the piano outro begins.
I’ve charted the notes roughly up to 173 where there is a swell of cymbals followed by a fast drum fill (just red gems for now) and after that I can’t seem to get my tempo map back on course again.
After 167 I deviated from how I usually tempo map and just dragged the master tempo envelope to try and match peaks up to the grid (until 172 where I placed a marker). Typically I go to the end of each measure, zoom in on the peak and hit Q.
Any advice from someone with experience mapping this kind of section would be greatly appreciated!
Hard to explain without seeing directly and being able to play around myself.
