I know that Rock Band supports all English (I can’t think of the specific name given to our characters) and some specific Spanish characters (vowels with a ‘ kind of thing on top) as well as punctuation. I am wanting to chart a song that’s in French. Am I going to be able to write lyrics with special characters that aren’t visually the same as Spanish characters? E.g. an e with a ^ above it, or vowels with a ‘ that’s not the same direction as similar Spanish characters. Or am I going to have to write everything with the corresponding English character?

September 21, 2017 at 2:34 pm #490832IIRC there are two versions of the vharacters with accents, one as a single character and one with 2 characters jammed together (or something similar? not entirely sure how this works). Sadly I don’t think there is a way to know which one your current keyboard setup is using unless you translate it into hex or something. Pretty sure if RB3 supports only one version of those characters it would be the first one.
If I had to guess; the canadian multilanguage keyboard uses the second version (2 characters together… or however it works), not sure about the french keyboard, or any other french speaking country. (on the canadian keyboard I have to press 2 keys to get ê, but some keyboard setup it is a single key, and they are 2 different characters for some reason)
September 21, 2017 at 5:30 pm #490839It doesn’t matter if I can get the keys to type. I just want to know if rock band supports them. Because I can use the alt codes to type them in.
So I totally forgot about Peut-Etre Une Angine. I watched a video with the rock band lyrics and it looks like most if not all of the characters are supported if they are from official dlc.
September 21, 2017 at 6:01 pm #490840I mean they are 2 different character no matter where you get them from, even if you copy paste, so I guess there are multiple alt-codes for theses characters. I just wrote this information in case you get weird errors you know that there is (at least) 2 versions of those characters.
September 21, 2017 at 11:34 pm #490852Well when I get to making the file if it doesn’t work I’ll mess around with it.
September 22, 2017 at 11:44 am #490863I think most (if not all) French characters work (à, â, i, î, ù, é, è, ê, ï, ë… Not sure about œ) as long as you set REAPER to export MIDI events as UTF-8 (and Magma to use UTF-
.IIRC, Unicode characters generally don’t work (like Czech accents č, ž, ì). I just try compiling on Magma and fix the characters that don’t work.
September 23, 2017 at 5:01 am #490884Ok thank you. Yeah I don’t know any Czech songs so I’d only need French characters right now.
