Is the stock RB4 guitar better than previous RB guitars?

I’ve been a dedicated X-Plorer fan for years. I had the original RB1 guitar and I really didn’t like it, specfically that there was a ridge between frets, and that the strum bar didn’t sound clicky or feel clicky. I never got an Xbox One, so I don’t have RB4. However I am thinking about getting one + RB4 for my birthday for myself, but the X-Plorer doesn’t work. There are used GH3, 4, 5 guitars on Amazon for 360 that I could get and use with the adapter, but if the new guitars are better, I’d rather spend 50$ on a new one, than 70$ on an pre-owned one that probably has problems + 20 on an adapter.
Sadly I don’t know anybody with RB4 to test it with…
Edit: While I’m at it, how annoying is it to bring your 360 RB DLC into Xbone? I have like 1100 official songs, pretty much all the exports…
Edit2: I just found out there is also the rivals jaguar, how about that?
August 9, 2017 at 5:50 am #489151The Rock Band 4 Stratocaster guitar is about the same but with a few difference in the visuals.
The Jaguar personally feels better for me + It’s not made by Mad Catz.
But these are my opinions, you’ll have to go with your gut on what might be better but if you don’t have a choice then I recommend the Jaguar.
+ If you get the Jaguar, I recommend getting it with the Rivals bundle.
It’s not annoying to get your dlc on Rock Band 4.
To bring it over all you have to do when you get the Xbox one is finish installing the game and go to “Manage Game”
and all of them should be waiting for download.
If you want the RB3 export, make sure you played it on 360 and when you get the game installed, go to the in-game store and go all the way down to exports.
The export cost $14.99
August 9, 2017 at 10:48 pm #489174The concerns you have about the previous RB guitars are still present on the RB4 guitar. They did away with the loud clicky strum bar and that’s not gonna change. The bridge between frets isn’t quite as intrusive on the RB4 guitar and the buttons are a lot crisper than they were on the RB1/2/3 guitars. The Jaguar is actually the nicest stock guitar for any RB/GH game I’ve played. Very well-built. I’d recommend giving it a try if you can find someone who has one.
August 10, 2017 at 12:13 am #489177I have a telecaster. If you can find one, they dont have the spongy strummer, but it also doesn’t click as loud as an Xplorer. All 4 of my Xplorers are broke so I use it now. Not as good, but a happy medium between them and the RB Strat.
Also why are you getting RB4? It’s just a bunch of bad songs with keys thrown onto guitar for the majority of them. As an Xplorer user, the days of playing songs like Guitar Hero II are long gone.

I’ve got a working Xplorer. Been wanting the Telecaster since it came out. I’ll trade you lol

It’s not really the sound of the RB1 guitar strum bar (or lack thereof) that bothered me, it’s the feel. On the X Plorer, you can kind of feel when you are about to, I guess, hit the “button” when pushing the strum bar up or down, but on RB1, there seems to be no definite boundry between “unstrummed” and “strummed”.
Anyway I ordered a Jaguar + Rivals bundle.
As to why I’m getting RB4… well, I’ve just felt really tempted and compelled by it since it came out. I feel like if I don’t get it, it will be on my mind forever lol.
August 10, 2017 at 7:45 am #489196Yeah I was extremely skeptical of RB4 especially with lack of keys but I ended up enjoying it anyway. It’s really not as bad as people say it is. Though honestly most of why I still play it is Rivals and RB4-era songs. Rock Band 3 is still superior in almost every way. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif” />
August 13, 2017 at 5:36 am #489336I actually have the game now. I played a couple of hours with the Jaguar. It’s comfortable and the strum bar is better than I thought, but I don’t like the frets. I sometimes hit the one to the right of the one I mean to as well (as in, I want to hit red, but I hit red + tap yellow for about 1 ms as well) so I miss a note. I think it’s because I’m so used to the x-plorer where there is actually some room between colors, but on the RB4 jaguar the buttons go right into each other. Also it probably doesn’t help that I’m used to RB3 on an SDTV which had perfect calibration. I spent a while trying to get RB4 calibrated on an HDTV, and I think I’ve got it decently, but who knows. All I know is that I’m having a fair amount of misses that I can’t explain and that I’d never have done in RB3, and I’m not sure if it’s the calibration, me not being used to the guitar and making mistakes, or the guitar itself being too sensitive/not sensitive enough/something compared to the x-plorer, rb4 havin a tighter engine… no idea what factor it is, but I’m playing notably worse.I also got a Les Paul from amazon to use on RB4 but the neck is bad and sometimes the frets only work if you really jam it down, so I’m returning it and I”ll try another one. Very frustratingNovember 11, 2017 at 3:26 pm #492349I also got a Les Paul from amazon to use on RB4 but the neck is bad and sometimes the frets only work if you really jam it down, so I’m returning it and I”ll try another one. Very frustratingYou can try this and it almost always works. Fold a piece of paper and stick in the neck to make it fit tighter. When it starts to go bad again (and it will after a bit), get new paper and do it again. I did this for years. Just fold the paper until it and the neck barely fits in the hole, it needs to be tight.
I hope this helps, like I said I did it for years.
