I have tried ever combination, permutation, and every set up I can find to get an emu nand set up that can play rock band 3. Nothing works. I’ve tried the solutions on the forms here as well, but to no avail. I’m running the game off of a USB loader (my own legal copy). I can run neek2o, but any USB loader I use freezes on a black screen or returns me too the emu nand Wii menu. I’m at the end of my rope. I believe my Wii was manufactured after 2010, because it can’t play DVDs or install bootmii as a boot2. If someone can PLEASE either link me a tutorial that they know works, post their own set of instructions, or link me an already set up emu nand that they know can run rb3 and load .app files, it would be much appreciated

This method is known to be working as long as you follow the included instructions to the letter. It’s very tedious; everyone makes mistakes with this method the first time, be aware of that. Also be aware that recently people have been having troubles updating through Nintendo servers (that’s how the emunand gets setup); if you do have theses troubles as well you can PM me; I can try to update it manually using a fresh one I made to help someone else with this. (keeping your serial number and stuff intact by only copying missing files).

Thank you. I’ve tried this method before, but I’ll try it again come Friday. I’ll post if it worked or not. Also, is it ok to use an sdhc card? And which USB port should I use (In terms of the Wii being on it’s side, with the disk drive being horizontal)

Yes SDHC should be fine; as long as you can use it with your wii which I imagine you can. Usually; the best USB port to make it work is the closer to the edge of the Wii; though this might not be true for all Wiis.

Got an update. Was able to load the game by pressing 1 on the emu nand neek2o wii menu, selecting the wbfs, and running it through the disk channel. Now, do I still need iso 249 to run customs in emu nand? And is the method i’m using to boot the game able to work for loading the custom .app files?

I would test with a DLC first. If DLCs loads; chances are customs are also loading as well.

So, go into the music store and download a dlc?

Nevermind, I figured it out. And the game isn’t even loading official dlc. Back to square one….

I gave up on this type of thing. I’m using USB Loader GX and a flash drive to load my Rock Band 3 disc (I was using an external hard drive, but this is easier) and I’m using a 64 GB microSD card to store my customs. Using 10 second previews (instead of the usual 15 from the converter tool), I’m able to comfortably pack 4 songs per slot, therefore theoretically allowing me to have about 2000 songs on my sZGE. You might want to go the route I’ve gone. I’m quite satisfied.

I know i’m basically reviving this threat, but, can anyone link me a 64gb hdd that they KNOW for %100 works with the method

      Alternity posted?

I’m pretty sure 99.9% (if not 100%) of the HDD works, as long as you power it from another source than the wii. I am using an old 240gb IDE drive with a IDE to USB adapter.

I tried using a 5 dc usb wall adapter to power it with a y cord, with the data end in the wii, and that didn’t work. Would a powered USB 3.0 hub work possibly?

      #492317

Most of the time when it doesn’t work (black screen) it’s due to an error with the partitionning process (you really have to follow the guide to the letter for this or else black screen), so my guess is that your HDD is fine (if you wanna be 100% sure that it’s fine try using it “normally” with game isos; you’ll see.)

For the power, draw it from the wall or a computer or anything else than the wii. Almost everything nowadays has a USB female port to charge (tv, even tv recievers). Sadly the wii is just giving poor power to HDDs.

Ok, this is EXACTLY, letter for letter, how I partition the hdd

1: I open MiniTool partition Wizard

      2: I cycle the drive MBR-GPT-MBR

3: I delete all current partitions on the HDD

      4: I create a new partition, FAT32, cluster size 32kb, Primary

5: I right click on the newly created FAT32 partition, and set it as ‘Active’

6: I create a second partition behind the FAT32 one. NTFS, Primary

In-between every step, I apply the changes to the HDD

I don’t know if this is of any use, but the wii I have is one of the ones that you can’t install a boot2 to, or play dvds using homebrew

      #492319

      I don’t think boot2 is relevant.

Are you powering the HDD from the wii or elsewhere? The Y cable might work on wii but it might not be stable due to the low power it can draw.
