Ok so i am sorry if this is the wrong place for this post

alright so i have many of your customs and in several of them the volume level is so high that it is distorting when i use visualizer to test it, is this a thing that can be changed or is the audio in the song uneditable?

i am new to this and would appreciate any help walking me through it if i can do it on my end!

Whose customs? You can ask the original author for a fix or edit the DTA file yourself, though I suspect the high volume is due to an irmproper use of the backing track audo for all instruments.

Is it true that typically you can only make a song quieter by modifying the DTA? Because it defaults to 0 and can only be changed to a negative value?

-3 should be the baseline, but I think for some reason Magma defaults to 0. So yes, you can only lower it, unless you re-render the audio of course. However, even -3 wouldn’t give a ton of control, audio needs to be properly equalized at the source.

i have been going through thousands of songs many times and i have encountered in the ballpark of 50 songs, some are distorting terribly, i will try to fix them the way you said, thanx

if i go through the songs again i will compile a list of them, and authors

often times it is when an author releases a batch of similar songs or same artist all of them would have the same issue

a good example of a song with the issue i mentioned is a breaking benjamin titled Believe, if i am right some of the other songs from this same author are the same

          #484893

i figured it might be when the author converted the audio file, how is it that the authors do not know of this overvolume issue?

Maybe the author(s) for some of the customs might have been putting the song in all the tracks instead of the backing tracks. Maybe all those customs with that problem are by the same author. In that case, you could contact the author to fix the problem.

i do believe there are only a few authors doing this one of which is edwen56 he has about 8 Breaking Benjamin songs all of which are distorting, i messaged him requesting him to fix the issue.

there are more songs like this, knowing there is thousands of songs to go through which i have several times recently i only just now decided to see if there is a fix, unfortunately i have deleted some of them and they for some reason didnt go to my recycle bin

Ok here is my ongoing list of songs with too high a volume and a scale of the volume

this is my opinion on this and anybody that could back me up on this would be appreciated, and on the flip side if you disagree with me please say so, Especially the peeps running this fine web site!

if i knew how to and was able to i would fix all these without wanting any credit for it.

I play rock band at very high volume levels on a very high quality surround sound stereo system so distortion is unbearable!!!!

Distortion is as bad for your speakers as it is your brain and ears!

            1-10

1 being too quiet to hear,

5 being the average level of most of the quality customs

10 being a guaranteed headache from the distortion

it is my belief that distortion comes in at around 7 and above

here is my list of which i will add to over time i will only list the band and song name and my estimation of volume level

            sensesfail -cant be saved 7

            Matchbook romance – Monsters 7

Negramario – nuvole el lenzuola 7

            Pearl Jam – Grievance 7

Bullet for my Valentine – hand of blood 7

Foo Fighters – Have it All 8+

            Mother Mother – Hayloft 7

If you post them here I doubt the original authors will see it. Comment in the DB and you might have more success.

I guess that a DB comment won’t help you neither cause author don’t get notifications from those comments. Sending a PM is your best shot!

sounds about right, i will compile a list of authors and send em a message , i still have 1500 songs i am looking through, then i will holler at them!

Something you can use to figure out possibly if this is happening in a file is to check the con file’s size. The only catches here would be ( a ) very* long songs or ( b ) Multi-track songs to check against.

Basically, assuming that the song is NOT a multitrack song, and if they did it correctly by putting blanks into the stem tracks, then cons should be (using my collection as reference) between 5mb – 15mb. Songs that use multitracks or have this error should be quite larger (about 3-5 times larger).

As a reference, my release of Rush’s La Villa Straigiato [9.5 minutes] I made 2 cons for. One was for testing that did NOT have stems (so it would load faster), and one was for the final release with stems working.

                No Multi-tracks = 12.6mb

                Yes Multi-tracks = 48mb

If you are looking for the songs you might have in error, sort your collection by size. Then you can go through the top outliars and sift through there (likely a lot smaller list than the 1500 you have now). Determine if the song is supposed to have Multi-Tracks/Stems, and if not, check if the song is something like a 30+ minute song. Neither of those… then it might have been made with the audio in all slots and loud.

Ok so somebody had to be the worst loudness offender

And the award goes to, a song just released today

Terrorizer – Evolving Era this weighs in at a 9 almost complete noise/distortion from one end to the other!!!!

these authors have to know they are posting less than quality customs on here!
