Hey guys! Wasn’t sure what forum this would be most appropriate in butthis seemed chill!
I’m new to this whole customs thing but I’m so stoked this community actually exists. I tried getting into customs probably just under a decade ago at this point in time, but at that time the community wasn’t there yet. The best community rhythm gamers got was scorehero lmao.
But anyways, I just wanted to introduce myself and express my excitement for this, the infinite possibility for the future ofmusic games. I spent a good 12 hours authoring and getting my first song playable (on expert guitar at least lol) today. I have a background both in music (as a metal guitarist & as an electronic music producer) as well as in audio engineering/mixing (went to school for that, on top of the stuff i taught myself by learning electronic production).
So, authoring by ear came to me in a heartbeat. Because of that, I decided to toss myself into the deep end and make my first custom authoring a Dillinger Escape Plan song (“Prancer” off the album “One of Us is the Killer”). This song features extended sections that alternate every couple bars (sometimes every bar) between 5/4, 6/8, 6/4, 9/8, 11/8, 12/8, and for one extended section, 12/4 (I know that signature can be simplified, I just didn’t bother for authoring lol)
Needless to say, tempo mapping by ear has been and continues to be a challenge, but it’s a challenge I fully understand and love the process of!
That said, y’all can expect a plethora of heavy music charts from me, especially on guitar and probably full band in the future.
It’s insane how Rock Band hit it’s peak last gen and yet the customs community, as far as i can tell, is not only active but slowly beginning to grow within the past couple years.
Pumped to be a part of it, and I can’t wait to bring some seriously hardcore charts to y’all!

December 1, 2016 at 7:54 pm #478329Hey there, just wanted to let ya know that there’s already an existing chart of Prancer floating around (G/B chart only though), but either way I’m glad to see you making the scene, wish you good luck!
If you’re going head first with the DEP customs, I’d love to see anything from their latest album, but some deep cuts from Miss Machine would also be amazing. Can’t wait to see what you’d come up with!

I reeeeally want to get some customs done for some metalcore bands we don’t have enough charts of, DEP in particular, but I also have Every Time I Die and Norma Jean in mind (their new albums especially). Plus, not metalcore, but I’d love to get some of Meshuggah’s new album done too.
As for Dissociation, I 100% would like to chart the full album tbh, but it’s going to be difficult because there’s not really much tablature out there for the new songs yet, and those are extremely handy in songs with a ton of time signatures (super common for DEP & Meshuggah).
December 1, 2016 at 10:09 pm #478334Oh yeah, I’m doing some Miss machine too lol, I’m thinking Sunshine the Werewolf, Highway Robbery, and We Are the Storm!
December 3, 2016 at 2:18 am #478370Welcome to the community! Looking forward to some more DEP customs. If you can handle that, nothing else should give you trouble.
5/4, 6/8, 6/4, 9/8, 11/8, 12/8, and for one extended section, 12/4
