So as RB Rivals isn’t available in Australia until Nov 11th, watching all of the gameplay footage & glowing reviews that are being posted has me counting the days till that illusive november release, the way a little kid counts the sleeps till xmas!!!

The one thing i haven’t seen much of (barely any in fact) are people’s first impressions / reviews of PDP’s Fender Jaguar controller

So any of you out there who’ve had some hands on game time with the Jag, and wish to weigh in on the PDP vs MADCATZ battle for outright supremacy, don’t be scared to have your say here

      Much Appreciated

      Rock On

Ok, I’ll give you what I think. First off, I’m on Xbox One, so all my impressions of the hardware are for Xbox One. I will give you my thoughts by way of comparisons. Jag vs. Strat is simple. Jag feels better and more durable. The Strat’s auto calibration didn’t work very well and had to be done many times. Jag took one try and it was great calibration. Jag is just a slight bit longer in the neck and head. All the non-neck buttons are in a slightly different spot on Jag, so that takes a minute to get used to. I really enjoyed the 12 or so hours I put into Jaguars play. It has been one of the better guitars I’ve ever touched. RB4 Strat, to me always seemed a bit lesser than the quality of RB2 Strats. Jag’s fold-able neck is cool. Truthfully, I have not folded it since I got it, but people who travel with their axe may find it awesome. I would buy a Jag before a Strat, personally. Jag, just to me, seems better in almost every way. They are both good, but the Jag looks nice, plays well and with Rivals is a good investment because it is bound to get a lot of play. The Rivals expansion is quite addictive, similar to the Blitz addition I had back in the day.

My bearded dragon, Bubbs says it rocks!!!!

      I hope that helps you.

            You saying he’s a cold-blooded animal? I feel that’s a bit harsh… <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif” />

Also I’m just noticing some of the stickers on the guitar. Some are quite…interesting.

A guitar should be an expression on art itself. A few interesting stickers make it feel like home.

It’s probably the best RB guitar I’ve used; I haven’t used either RB2, RB3 or Madcatz RB4 instruments, though (I’ve used an RB1 and Beatles guitars before). I do much prefer the strumbars on GH guitars (gotta have that clickiness), though the frets feel nice at least. It has dropped out randomly one or two times for me, and the batter life was just fine both times.

I really wish I could get the Jaguar for RB3. I always liked the body style and if the construction is as solid as the Madcatz RB4 guitar then I’d be happy. The Strats up until that point always felt somewhat flimsy particularly with the strum bar.

I had a Madcatz 360 controller for a few years and really loved it but as much as I want to defend Madcatz they just don’t make good hardware. I’m sure if I had that controller today with my understanding of sturdy construction I would’ve just put it in my drawer and bought an official controller.

As someone who has been using GH guitars since day one, I finally made the switch with Rivals. (also since the price of older GH guitars just keep rising and rising).

I really like it. I’ve played RB guitars in the past, and this one has a better feel than the previous ones. I will say that the auto-cal is fucked though. It tried to tell me my settings were 100/15 when they are 115/65.

I may have to return it to amazon since my drums are shit though. (bought Biab) Hopefully they don’t send a faulty guitar back.

I just RMA’d my Jaguar because the Auto Calibration doesn’t work on it.

I honestly like Mad Catz guitar better regardless. Probably just use to it now.
