After years of bashing my ion drumset, it was time for some drum maintenence. The rubber pieces on my cymbals started peeling up and other chunks have worn away. My solution, get a can of that flex in a can (by now most people have seen the commercials where he paints a screen door and puts it in the bottom of a boat) I just make the right size tray out of heavy duty foil, pour in the flex seal, let it dry, ta-da instant replacement piece, just glue into place. I have also coated the plastic screw down rings that are on the rd, grn, blu,& yel pads. Now I dont get that gnarly plastic sound if I miss the pad. Also if your pad feels “dead”, unscrew the ring, remove the drumhead and replace the piece of foam in there. The 1st time I did this I was amazed how much of the foam had been beaten to dust. Hope this helps some people. Cheers!!!
