As I was reading and watching the tutorials of tempomapping, I noticed the technique everyone used was always the same. It looked like a very tedious way to map the tempo. So I decided to try a different, more effecient method and would like to know the outcome of my trial before I continue the song any further. The song’s time signature is 6/8 btw.

Will my tempo map work for rock band 3?

Second question: The hi hats before the song starts — How can I accent the first and fourth note on the second measure? My goal was to make it sound like the staff below but it doesn’t sound very good at the moment. Is there a better way I can make the beginning sound and still match the 6/8 beat?

For the accents, just place the hi hat samples you want to be accented onto a different track and make that track’s volume louder than the other samples.

Thanks. Just tried that and it worked!

In short, no. The “more efficient method” you used is to set a single tempo for the whole song, which results in some measures being early, some late. That is wrong and actually inefficient, it’s just a way to skip the tempo mapping process. If you were washing the laundry, it would be like saying that a more efficient method for washing the laundry is not washing the laundry. Tempo mapping is the basis of authoring and it’s not that bad, for a song like this you might be done in 10/15 minutes: if you can’t do that, I’m not sure the rest of authoring is for you.

Hey I can’t tempo map either and I somehow get by Sometimes people even download my songs!

I figured just as much. Started to have doubts shortly after I started to chart. Thanks, everyone.

Going to start this project from the beginning again.
