Hi,
I missed the memo and am still using the RBN2 Template (modified to allow MIDI keyboard input to help me determine Keys and Vox charts)
Wondering what the advantages of the C3 one were, if any?
EDIT: (don’t know whether it’s best to edit or reply)
I’m charting Pro Keys for a song and I’m not sure how to proceed on this one part.
It has six notes 1/16 notes in rapid succession (end to end) and the tempo is 125bpm. It also ends with a sustained C#, and I’m not sure on how to fit that in.
Would this qualify as a Glissando? The rules in the RBN Docs don’t have much detail on specifying one, and I’m not a Keys player so it’s not obvious. Sorry if it’s an easy question but thanks for any help ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
It’s obviously only just over a quarter in length (six 1/16 notes = 6/16), but it doesn’t say anything about what kind of tempo that’s for.
EDIT: I now have a satisfactory answer to these questions, may as well delete the thread ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif” />
June 27, 2016 at 12:31 am #471094Lots of note names were corrected. Just use it.
June 27, 2016 at 12:50 am #471095I really hate to sound like a nob, but I’m not being chewy on purpose.
Is there a changelog? or anywhere detailing the changes made to the RBN Template to make the C3 Template?
I have a couple of annoying issues whenever I use the C3 Template, like the MIDI Editor disappearing.
Plus I do prefer the layout of the RBN Template, and I’ve already modified it to suit my liking, I would rather implement the important changes from the C3 Template into my one.
Sorry to be a pain. If there’s no changelog then I’ll work something out. Thanks for responding.
June 27, 2016 at 1:25 am #471099I’ve always used the C3 template.
June 27, 2016 at 1:45 am #471101It’s obvious (and obnoxiously so) that you’re new. It’s fine. Welcome. But please take the time to try and figure out things on your own. I don’t need to come here to see three different separate threads by you as the newest topics. Why not one “Hi, I’m new and need help” and just stick your questions in there? I’m fairly sure I’m going to combine your threads and make that happen if you keep this up.
Also, it is recommended that you use the C3 template. You were told that. You insist on using your own version. That’s fine. But don’t expect anyone to be too kind if you get yourself into trouble that would have been avoided had you used the C3 template. In other words, if you choose to ignore the advice given to you, don’t be surprised when you don’t get help when your actions backfire.
June 27, 2016 at 2:07 am #471109Ok, I’ll agree in hindsight this one was poorly worded. And I should’ve combined it with the one relating to the CAT issues I was having, I’m tired, sorry about that one
And ok I see how it comes across, but sometimes I’m just trying to convey some humour or something but obviously it doesn’t always read like that through text.
I don’t see my threads in the new content section? I am spamming that bad? ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_frown.gif” />
I understand it’s recommended – I said I could just modify that instead, it’s not too much effort. However all’s I asked was if there was a record of changes – so that if it wasn’t too much effort I would’ve added them myself. I’m not trying to rebel, I’m not trying to cause shit – I don’t care about using the C3 Template, I said I could make it work, and didn’t insist on using my own version – simply that I would prefer to. I asked a yes or no question. I’m sorry I have been… communicating? too much, you have a point, I’ll tone it down.
EDIT: I just saw you’re posts about resurrecting old threads, that wasn’t intentional apologies for that.
Also I used the search function to look for CAT related errors and it turned up nothing similar, so I posted, it wasn’t until later that I checked the comments on the proper thread and found other people with the same answer. Again an accident, obviously a noob to this shit, never used a forum before in my life (evidently)
June 27, 2016 at 2:37 am #471114I read in the CAT thread you were having issues getting it to work, using the C3 template instead may fix your problem as (AFAIK) CAT is tailored to work with that.

First thing I tried pal, but thanks

You made it clear that you see rules your way: you’re either ignoring them when you think things are good enough for you anyway or you think you can do better, when you don’t even use the tools we provide. All the while being a novice at this. Nobody will stop you from authoring the way you want, but you won’t find help from people who know that it’s a waste of time providing information for someone who doesn’t really care about doing things properly. We don’t provide a list of changes because we don’t want you to use a template that is flawed, we want you to use a template that works. We specifically don’t want anybody to edit anything in the template, to avoid issues. You want to do things differently? That’s fine, but you’re on your own, even more so when you are not even at a stage where you compiled a song.
June 27, 2016 at 7:43 pm #471154Uhhh, no, I’m sorry if you got that impression, that wasn’t what I meant. I understand things get like, easily misread and miscontrued, it’s not like verbal communication so I’m sorry if I’ve wound anyone up or anything – I’ve been on a bit of an info frenzy, and using the forums really late at night (not making excuses! Just trying to reason).
I was just asking if there was a changelog, never mean to be awkward but I said I have issues with your template (not criticising! I’m probably the only one). I understand how important universal standards are across the board, half of the things I post about are how to make my charts more like everyone elses!!
Anyway I fished out the “no there’s no record of changes” from your answer farottone, so thanks.
I’m not about to deliberately isolate myself from everyone else either (by using different things), just for sake of preference, so I’m gonna set about changing the C3 template (and don’t worry I know what to modify and what NOT to modify) to suit my preferences.
Thanks again and sorry this got blown out of proportion ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif” />
June 28, 2016 at 3:06 am #471192Alright I’ve done the new template. I saw in the C3 template there was already practice sections? I hardly see them on customs I play.
Also a lot of Venue MIDI notes were cut off? I’m assuming they’re redundant now?
June 28, 2016 at 4:13 am #471194The practice sections are meant to be easy examples. Move them around as needed.
Some venue notes were removed because they were only valid for RBN1.
June 28, 2016 at 4:23 am #471196Ah yeah I thought so, thanks for clearing that up for me ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
