Alright, not sure if this was covered anywhere (did a quick search that yield no results) but I have some MP3’s that have some separation within the two channels. Lead Guitar, Bass, Drums, and vocals in left and Rhythm/Backing Guitar, harmonica (when used) and vocals in the right. Could I use these for partial multi-track? I’m just curious on how it would sound in game while missing notes if it’s worth doing it.
That’s not how multi tracks work. You need a stereo backing track. You can have mono instrument tracks, so if you can cleanly separate say lead guitar from everything else, you could have lead guitar as a mono file, and the remaining audio in backing. But frankly, if you’re asking this question, it tells me you don’t understand enough about how it works to be able to do it correctly. I would suggest just using it as a regular mp3 custom and not wasting your time with this.
I have done them as regular mp3 customs, I figured that it probably wasn’t a feasible idea mainly because I’d lose the sounds of the other instruments on the game with a missed note.
We have given up on doing multitrack or even karaoke versions of songs that had vocals 99% separated, just because that 1% bothered us. I’d suggest ignoring multitracks right now unless you have them or you know someone who can produce them in a very satisfactory manner. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif”>
