So i’ve been following Farottones very useful authoring guide. I’ve finished up charting my song and my tempo map looks great.

I rendered both an audio and non-audio Wav file last night, but i kept running into an error when compiling my rb3_con file in Magma. I’m not sure if i’m using the right settings when rendering my file? I also read something about embedding my tempo map, but again i’m sure if i’ve done that correctly or have at all. This is my current settings> https://gyazo.com/4dfec4aebafd5f95ea8323162d4da3ec

In the authoring guide it says 14.1.2 – “all plug ins turned off, to avoid clicker and MIDI sounds being rendered out, select file > render and use the settings in the picture. This is going to be your main audio”. What picture? I haven’t been able to find any. I think this would make my life alot easier if i was able to view examples.

Use Reaper 4.22 to avoid issues.

From what I see from your pic, you should uncheck the embed project tempo box. Not sure if that’s what’s causes your issue, but it’s useless as far as rendering a wav is concerned (you need to export your midi file with the embedded tempo though).

And you don’t need to render the master mix, you only need to render the song audio track (with the countin), it will save you the hassle of muting/unmuting the midi tracks everytime you want to export a midi or render a wav. To do so, you only need to put your count-in with your audio file, select the audio track and choose “render stems”.

It’s still worth it to keep the count in on a separate track to adjust volume separately and any other kind of added audio clip for a non-fade out ending, in example.

Fair point, I tend to forget all the stuff that you can do with Reaper (I use Audacity to deal with all the audio treatment once I rendered the raw file, because there’s way more options ). But with the right click menu, you can change the volume of the audio clips individually before rendering, so putting these on the same track as the main audio file makes no difference as far as I’m concerned

You’ve already discovered and properly utilized the Picard emoji in an appropriate fashion, so I’m sure that you are well on your way to publishing quality customs in the near future. Good luck!
