So lately I have started making my own venues to songs, and I’ve got to say, I love doing it. It might be the director in me (I use to make my own films when I was alot younger) but it’s great seeing my band move around stage the way I want them to, singing along. I was just wondering if other people feel the same way, or are they too focused on the track to notice the back ground?
June 12, 2015 at 12:34 pm #447729Back when I was authoring customs somewhat regularly, I’d invest more time tweaking the venue than some of the instrument charts… they’re a major part of the whole experience for me.
June 12, 2015 at 12:38 pm #447731Personally…I really appreciate the extra work that people put into two things that may not matter to some people…lip synch, and venue/band animations.
I still get a cheap thrill all these years later when the stage kit strobe light gets triggered in a song, too.
June 12, 2015 at 12:48 pm #447732I barely notice the venue animations.
June 12, 2015 at 1:17 pm #447734I like when people take the time to synchonize lighting events with the music. It makes my stage kits that much cooler. I don’t really care about what’s on the screen other than the charts.
June 12, 2015 at 1:35 pm #447737I love the idea of tinkering with them, but usually by the time I’m done with a project and I’m on to the last parts (venue included), I just pull the auto generated one in and use that. People that take the time and make very good ones are hero’s in my eyes ha.
June 12, 2015 at 1:53 pm #447741The venue track is actually a key part of a song, as far as I’m concerned. A song may have a fun chart, but for me, if the background animations look cool and such, it really does draw me into the song more. Thus why I normally put as much effort into the venue track as I can whenever I author.
June 12, 2015 at 1:55 pm #447742I like to make the venues. I’m still learning how best to do them, but I have slowly started incorporating more and more custom venue stuff into my customs.
If you look at my early stuff, there are no custom venues. I just used the autogen, but since I think it had that one random venue event in the C3 template so it didnt actually generate much. Or was that lighting? Might be lighting.
Anyway, my Brown Sugar chart was the first chart I did anything custom on, and that was to make the camera show the other band members when harmonies were present. It’s not perfect, most of the camera cuts aren’t timed perfectly, but it’s a work in progress still. I have an internal version of the song that has a better venue but I haven’t released it yet ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
And then my most recent song, Shake Shake Shake (check it out, it’s awesome!) has almost a full custom venue. That was really fun to do and really gave a great feeling seeing it in game as I played it.
June 12, 2015 at 2:00 pm #447745I get really overly concerned with the aesthetics of Rock Band, so of course, venues are a massively important thing to me when it comes to songs in the game. I get REALLY PASSIONATE about
.
I’ve also charted massively stupid shit just for the purpose of giving it an awesome venue. Like I said, I’m REALLY PASSIONATE ABOUT THIS.
I LOVE VENUES
June 13, 2015 at 1:09 am #447817I used to do a venue for every song but with 15+ new songs I want to release before Oct, I am only planning on doing one venue, except for some key moments in other songs where they make the most sense.
June 13, 2015 at 4:32 am #447833I love venues. A bland (or non-existent) venue that has no effort put into it can really ruin my enjoyment of a custom.
The venue is part of the experience and it really makes playing the song even more fun.
When I do customs I always put in a lot of effort into making the venue the best I can
June 17, 2015 at 5:06 am #448307Without a venue I just put it on Phase Shift most of the time. Venues is super important to me
June 18, 2015 at 6:04 am #448417I REALLY hope RB4 will let us choose the venue when doing a setlist. I think the venue is a huge part of the game. I refuse to play in the dumps and have to keep restarting the set until they give me a decent venue.

It’s annoying when I’m testing the venues and I have to restart 10 times or more just to get the big stages

Oh man I am so with you guys on this one. I don’t know how many times I’ve gotten that stupid basement venue with the toilet in it. Seriously? I rarely seem to get my favorites, the penthouse, clock tower, and outdoor arena, but that stupid toilet comes up over and over.
