My ultimate goal is to get Harmonies and Customs to work on a USB stick on an Xbox. And I just can’t seem to manage it. Customs are easy. RBH is easy on TU5. The two…not so much.
My RB3 (paid, DLC, extra game packs) is all on my local HD (Xbox 360 slim. Not modded). This is 444 files
My Profile lives on the USB stick.
My RBH file set is the 4/17 Master
I have 3 RB3CON custom packs which have all of my custom songs.
My first procedure is:
0. Wipe all song caches.
1. Use RB3CON to copy TU4 to a stick along with the two RBH files.
2. Start RB3 to accept the two DLC files from RBH.
3. Power cycle console. Add HD. Start RB3.
4. Accept DLC (444 files).
5. Remove RBH dummy file. Restart RB3.
At this point, RB3 recognizes 444 songs (yay!), then goes in and runs a “Loading 215 of 444 songs.” It will do this EVERY time it is restarted. In addition, most DLC is missing from the song lists.
I haven’t even started into customs yet with this line of attack. If I do, customs will work, but I’ll still have the missing songs and the reload.
The second line of attack is to try and get RBH on TU5. Then downgrade to TU4.
1. Copy just the two RBH files to the stick. Accept TU5. Start Rb3
2. Add HD, rebuild “real” song cache. Remove Dummy File…
3. Yay! Harmonies work! All DLC present.
4. Remove TU5 from USB. Add TU4 and customs packs.
5. 3 files added to cache rebuild.
All songs present…and….RBH songs fail with an “Unable to load song file. Skipped.” Songs untouched by RBH and the customs work fine.
TU5 is probably a trap. I can’t figure out what is going on on TU4 with RBH, however.

We need to tattoo this somewhere so people remember it. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”>
2 sticks, identical in structure, one with all RB3 TU4 things related (profile, *cache*, settings, etc.), one with all RB3 TU5 things (profile, *cache*, settings, etc.). Only difference: customs go to TU4 stick only. The HDD will only host DLC. What you’re experiencing is a shared cache file being rewritten every time you load.
May 30, 2015 at 11:34 pm #446747I suppose the corollary question….is what actually requires TU5? We only play local, and the issue seems more related to 215/444 of the various DLC.
Method #1 stripped the HD down to just DLC, and tried to get RBH running under TU4. At that point, I’d probably just stay on TU4 forever if I could get RBH + DLC to behave to TU4.
I was being hopeful with the crazy Method #2 RBH/TU5 downgrade to TU4 mostly because that is closest to what I did with the initial base customs install where you aren’t rebuilding the song cache from scratch, but just layering over top of a TU5 DLC song cache on the HD, but downgrading to TU4.
May 31, 2015 at 4:01 am #446769Almost found my own answer in a couple of other threads here.
It appears to be a DLC license issue. “Redownloading” all of the Rb3 related DLC seems to fix the missing song issues.
….As long as I can find the songs. I’ve gotten it down to where it rescans and claims to load 3 songs every time RB3 is starting. Figuring out which 4 is…um….
Beer.
Beer will solve all problems. Or at least make me stop caring until in a few months someone asks, “I though Rock Band had song X….”

Any reasoning for this?
The only thing Ive done is use my flash drive to add more customs each time a few good ones come out….
While I use the Copy/Move ALL function to my HD, I re-place the TU4 and RBHP file back onto the flash drive when I am done.
