What’s the part of the docs you are having trouble with?

I just don’t really understand it, but is this how you do it?

Use this event drums_d and then when the first one is done then you do this event drums0dnoflip

Also have you seen my new post on the C3 Automation Tools, I’m not sure if you have seen it because I was the last one to post there and I posted something new.

To switch between normal and disco flipped drums on Expert Pro Drums, simply place a [mix 3 drums0d] text event to turn disco flip on or [mix 3 drums0] to turn it off any time in the song. The reason this event exist is that you should chart two hand 16th hi-hat patterns to Red and snare hits in these patterns to Yellow on Legacy Drums so it is playable without needing to cross arms, but you also want people who play Pro Drums to be able to play these parts like they are played on a real drum set.

I will try it out, thanks.

Hijacking this old thread for another noob question – I’m just doing my first songs with a disco beat.

How do I deal with open hihat accents during the beat? Do I chart them normally to blue?

I don’t have a pro kit here, but from my imaginations it sounds very uncomfortable to play. Quickly reaching out to the blue cymbal (and than back to the snare) during a fast 16-notes beat. Much more difficult that it would be on a real kit (where it will be done with the foot).

Other option is just ignore the accents and chart it all as regular hihat. Which is possible but kinda misses an important part of the beat IMO.

Yes, open hi hat still goes to blue during a disco flip. If it would cause a hand crossover for standard drums, then you might consider making it a regular hi hat hit.

There’s no crossover since both snare and open hi-hat fall only for the right hand. I just feel it might be very uncomfortable and unnecessarily difficult on pro drums, reaching all the way to the other cymbal and than immediately to the snare.

Check The Automatic – Monster from LRB: if it’s about that speed, it’s still good. If it’s faster, I too would consider just keeping it all Y.

Great, my song is even a bit slower. So I’ll chart it to blue.
