I mentioned in another post that I am new to Xbox and the file structure, playing on Live etc, so maybe its just me, but I am wondering why some of the DLC that I download from the internet, not here, will show up in my game and let me play on live, but some will make me get the disc unreadable error…Maybe could someone explain how this works, like if I wanted all the RB1 songs from the disc, would they go in the 0000001 folder as saved games? My Xbox is not tagged or RGHed or anything.

Also, what is the difference between the DTA files structure from RB1, 2, 3 and between LIVE or CON?

First things first. LIVE is the format for DLC files. If your Xbox is not modded, don’t worry about them. If your Xbox is modded, I’m not going to help you with LIVE files because 99.9% of the times those files would be pirated DLC and I won’t help you there. All customs available anywhere on our forums and database are in CON format.

CON format is for customs. They go in the 00000001 folder. If you put them in the wrong folder they will show as corrupt on the Xbox dashboard and will not show up in the game at all.

If you’re seeing the dirty disc error, it means you either have the MadCatz version of the game or you downloaded TU5. Watch the tutorial video so you can understand why that is a problem and how to fix it.

DTA file format hasn’t really changed from game to game except they added more and more information to them, but they’re plaintext files you can read in any text editor. You don’t need to concern yourself with them if you’re just starting out now.

…Didn’t s/he say that they weren’t talking about customs, but actual DLC?

Well, you can’t really hold OP to the text of the post because a lot of times new users confuse the term DLC between its intended meaning (authorized content by Harmonix or the Rock Band Network) and customs.

In which case we don’t want to be part of it in any way, so if he/she fails to load DLC he/she didn’t pay for, it’s good. <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”>
