I am charting a song and part way through there is a repeated vocal string at the end of the chorus that has no discernable note value ie. it is more of a gruff-string of ‘growled’ words….. ie. for these spoken strings that have no tuneful content , whereabouts on the Vocals track should this go..?
My understanding is that it doesn’t really matter where they fall on the scale. In-game talkies all look the same regardless of their placement.
Chart it wherever and add a # sign at the end of the lyric to turn it into a talkie note, so if the lyrics are for example “roar!” it should be written as “roar!#” without the quotation marks

This is correct. Spoken/growled parts are authored as talkies/non-pitched notes, and the actual note in the MIDI doesn’t matter as long as you properly mark the note as a talkie like Lyra described above.
That said, in a song with mixed talkie/sung parts, I would pick a note you already used for a sung part to author your talkies in. I don’t think it affects the displayed range, but it makes the job easier (for me at least) and it’s good to err on the side of caution.
Thanks – most informative!
