OK – so I have created song packs using C3 tools no problem for some time now. But I have noticed on a occasion that songs that should be in the Song Pack , are not appearing in-game…?

In order to verify the Song Pack content I take the Song Pack and run it through the Quick Pack Editor and lo and behold all 10 songs (in my particular case) as expected, are there….(?)

I have made sure to remove all instances of previous song packs and individual songs from the memory stick before adding this new pack file…. so, any ideas why this would be…? So, this is the only instance of these particular tracks on the memory stick.

(Anything to do with the song cache file perhaps…?)

    Thanks in advance.

I have tried to package customs together before and never got any of them to show up in-game, even when only packaging new additions. But I have had luck removing songs from existing packages and having the rest still work. So I just assumed I was packaging them wrong somehow.

If you’re using Pack Creator in C3 CON Tools, making a package is ridiculously easy. Put all the CONs in one folder, drag one of them to Pack Creator, enter the title and description that you want. Build. That’s it.

        Issues you may have:

        1) You still have those songs in your hard drive or usb – you can’t have them twice, delete the loose files and only keep the pack

        2) You already had those songs in your hard drive or usb, and they’re in your song cache – delete the song cache and let it rebuild with the pack (you will lose scores, etc).

        That’s pretty much it. I make packs almost every week with 100% success. <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />

..Assuming it’s the song cache (as I had suspected it was), do you have any idea exactly WHY the cache gets itself in a twist… I am sure I have had this before and losing the cache did rectify it but this is a real ‘pain-in-the-A’ if I have to delete the cache each time songs are not appearing….. it takes so long to rebuild the scores and game progress again….

It’s the nature and purpose of a cache file. A typical RB player will never delete it. We are not typical and are constantly messing with the game files. It allows one entry per song. Same does cPlayer for reference. The cache stores metadata and other relevant info. So does the cache for cPlayer. If you delete from inside the game (or using cPlayer) it clears it out fine and you can re add that song.

Otherwise it sees that the song is already in the cache and refuses to add it “again” so you end up with the old entry pointing at a file that doesn’t exist. It comes with the territory of modding game files in ways it doesn’t expect.

OK…. so I have moved the cache file to the root of the USB stick…. restarted game…. song files are still still missing…. when I go back into the Memory stick via Buffalo , the song cache is not where I moved it from…? Isnt it supposed to have rebuilt it…? … or is the song cache used the one on the XBOX drive….

.. while weere on the subkect of messing with game files… is it at all possible to disable the animated cut scenes – like the end scene where they are in the basr after the gig and he throws money on the bar and they all leave… drives me nuts…! Would be great to just get back to the menu without all the unnecessary animation detail….!

          Thanks

If your band gets reset you will wind up watching those a lot. I think you can avoid that by staying offline but I’m not sure there’s a way to disable them when you’re “progressing.”

If you start the game up after removing the song cache file it should ask you what drive to generate the new cache on. If it does not that means it found one; if you left the USB stick in with it, it’ll use that, or if you still have a cache on your HDD it’ll use that.

            OK here it is….. I have a song pack with 10 songs……

            I have :

            1) moved to another place on the stick, the song cache and deleted the copy on the XBOX. New song cache copy is created, but still the song pack is only showing 8 of my 10 custom songs.

            2) I have rebuilt the song pack – reconfirmed all 10 songs are present using C3 tools …. still only 8 appear on the game.

            3) I remove the song pack itself and apply all 10 songs individually.. these are now the only customs on USB stick, the songs that were missing now appear… but two songs that were visible have now disappeared…

What the smeg is going on…?

            #441788

            I have :

            1) moved to another place on the stick, the song cache and deleted the copy on the XBOX.

Delete both copies of the songcache and try again?

            #441957

            Yeah, I have done that….

I am persevering here but no clearer idea whtat is going on..

As stated earlier , I applied all songs indivdually.. 9 were present.. one (EMILY) was not.

I then deleted the song cache on both the XBOX and on the USB stick.

I then applied ONLY the song that was missing previously (EMILY) , a new cache file was created on the stick on boot, and this song has now appeared…..

Great me thinks, problem sorted… so I apply all the other 9 songs (that as I mention a couple of lines up were previously appearing)…… now, 2 others of these songs are no longer appearing…..

(This isnt a storage space issue as there are GB of space available on the stick)

I really dont know what else I can do to narrow this analysis down…. but I dont seem to be getting near to a solution surely someone else has had similar….????
