Do it up!! Looks like they’re trying to get people’s input on last gen instruments, etc.
March 27, 2015 at 10:50 pm #441483I put I have all working wireless instruments. Because I do. I have 18 guitars, 6 microphones, 3 drum sets, 3 midi pro adapters, 2 keytars, 2 stage kits, and other misc rb stuff. All in working condition, some new in box. I still marked I would buy all new instruments, because I would. I want the band in the box kit!
March 27, 2015 at 10:50 pm #441484Why on earth do they ask me if I have owned Call of Duty? What on earth does Call of Duty, Madden, etc. or any of the other games on that list have to do with Rock Band other than Rocksmith and Dance Central/Fantasia?

What on earth does Call of Duty, Madden, etc. or any of the other games on that list have to do with Rock Band other than Rocksmith and Dance Central/Fantasia?I thought it was a pretty weird list too. I play games pretty frequently but no games on that list. Maybe they’re thinking about where to advertise?
Also they didn’t even have “no keys” in the reasons why I’m not currently interested in buying RB4.
[Edit] And they only let you choose one reason for a fundamentally cumulative type decision. Forget about keys charters or Q&A, they should hire a psychologist or a social scientist to design their questionnaires!
March 28, 2015 at 10:55 am #441531I liked the non-binary gender option, I was just as puzzled as the question mentioning Halo and Destiny as everyone else, and I also marked that I have working instruments but I’m still buying the full set.

What on earth does Call of Duty, Madden, etc. or any of the other games on that list have to do with Rock Band other than Rocksmith and Dance Central/Fantasia?Gauging potential total sales based on percentage of respondents that have played those titles vs. have not and comparing it to attach rate for those titles?
Promotional opportunities?
Demographics for marketing?

My guess would be to find out what types of gamers they are attracting to RB4 just to see. So for example you marked you had CoD and Halo, you most likely are more of an FPS type gamer.
March 28, 2015 at 2:03 pm #441541I thought they already knew what type of gamer was interested in RB4, the type that likes rhythm games, karaoke or playing instruments. If they are gonna try to make it “appeal to a broader audience” (which we all should know by now never actually means appealing to a broader audience but trying to steal sales from CoD) we might suddenly get something silly like that failed arena shooter they did when what they really need to do is serve a thirsty niche while making it feel welcoming to new players who aren’t currently into it while making sure to advertise it right and have the instruments in stock world wide. I am still 100% convinced the reason RB3 “failed” was due to the lack of good advertising and the way new instruments was a bitch to acquire, as well as doing virtually nothing to combat Rocksmith’s claims of being the only worthwhile rhythm game in their advertising campaign
Also agreed with Necro on the lack of mention of Keys and Lowlander about the non-binary option
March 28, 2015 at 3:31 pm #441548[…] something silly like that failed arena shooter they did when what they really need to do is serve a thirsty niche […]People looking for arena shooters were a far thirstier niche at that point in time than rhythm game players, and I think it would have done well w/ some revisions under its belt to clear out the clunkiness, but I feel like I’ve had this conversation before, so I won’t rehash it beyond that.
RB3 “failed” (by which I assume we mean failed to meet initial sales expectations) because the populace at large was burnt out on the genre. It’s worth noting that Rocksmith 2014 also failed to meet sales expectations (and sold less) during a relatively similar span of time, but people still view it as a success. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif”>
I have no doubt HMX did themselves no favours w/ the instrument availability issues, but RB1 instrument availability was a nightmare in Canada, and it did OK here. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif”>
March 28, 2015 at 4:16 pm #441549Well thing is, I would have had no doubt the arena shooter game from them would have done really well if that is what it was instead of trying to be a non-sensical mix of Guitar Hero and a FPS, which is my point: trying to “appeal to a wider audience” by just mashing in stuff that doesn’t really fit for no other artistic reason than “it might sell better” is a bad idea, and therefor their curiosity about CoD and Madden players makes me a tad worried they might lose focus of why rhythm games were popular to begin with is all
March 28, 2015 at 4:50 pm #441554Tha portion of the survey is clearly for marketing purposes. Either their partners asked to get some feedback or they want to know more about partnerships (selling branded items in game? Tarketing users for ads?). It’s not like 6 months away from release they suddenly transform RB4 into a driver game where soldiers drop from planes throwing footballs at a fretboard just because most people play those kind of games. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif”>
March 28, 2015 at 5:31 pm #441558… a driver game where soldiers drop from planes throwing footballs at a fretboard…Want!
March 28, 2015 at 7:37 pm #441568I’m a Tomb Raider kinda guy and that has made all the difference on this new survey. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />
