Honestly if you’re still playing the game at this point you’re on of the few of us who have been around that old plastic guitar for a good chunk of our past ~8 years, because we actually enjoy the game.
We were the few who the developers had in mind, those that would actually appreciate the game, the people that they made the game for. But, although we are those few who stuck around this long, the rest of the population did not share your enthusiasm for the genre of games, and you find that most times you’re able to find time to play – you’re playing alone.
This situation is nothing to be ashamed of, mind you. Playing alone lets you choose the music for your mood and not just to suit the party, and you get a wider variety of music pumping through your head.
Its behind this thought that I base this song request. Playing alone is great, but I don’t want to be screaming into a mic while thrashing on the strings every single time I play the game and the music I find the whole franchise is lacking in isn’t commonly thought of when you go to play Rock Band or Guitar Hero, Acoustic.
Not only is there a plethora of uncharted acoustic artists and songs (think Ed Sheeran, John Mayer, etc) but there are also a TON of (Acoustic Version)’s that kick just as much ass as their regular counterparts (in a similar but yet entirely different way) and in some cases, even more ass. Acoustic is the one way that any artist can calm down and be on the same level, regardless of their original genre.
While this isn’t quite a specific song request, I do have a working acoustic music playlist on Spotify if you’re a Creator and you want to check some songs out.
(I’m in the process of rebuilding my music library from scratch in Spotify based on my Last.fm profile, and I’m only currently on B, so the playlist will get more over time, I promise.)
EDIT:(P.S. Its collaborative, so feel free to add songs you think might fit the genre.)
The main idea behind this is that some players would like to sit down and play an acoustic track, and we could either have some Acoustic based packs or a themed week or something, or just incorporate some Acoustic songs sprinkled throughout the weeks. Either way, it should happen.

February 18, 2015 at 1:02 pm #438691+1 totally agree. I tend to prefer softer music, but come to think of it, I don’t think many of the songs I’ve charted have actual acoustic guitar stuff in it which sucks. I would love more acoustic music.
February 18, 2015 at 5:36 pm #438700+1 to acoustic. Even songs like “Broken” by Seether and Amy Lee, and “The Man Who Sold the World” by Nirvana; would be great to play. I too prefer softer music now and again.
February 19, 2015 at 12:34 am #438738I would agree 100% but the only thing stopping me from charting acoustic is the lack of up-strum on the controllers/guitar. Maybe it’s the guitar I use but I can’t seem to strum up which takes away from acoustic songs. Electric guitar songs you can get away with all down-strums but it’s critical in acoustic songs. This is something I would love to see in rb4. An improved strum bar that is more realistic to a real guitar.
February 19, 2015 at 3:23 am #438759I say that is 100% a issue with your guitar. All properly functioning Guitar Hero and Rock Band guitars have both up and down strum. Can’t imagine trying Thrasher or Through the Fire and Flames without both working.

Up-strumming (and alt-strumming) are pretty important techniques when playing on Expert and I use it a lot
February 19, 2015 at 9:39 pm #438826lol I guess I wasn’t clear. My guitars are not broken but I think strumming up/down, alternating, is average at best. I’ve even tried to use a pretty light pick and still can’t get it right. Sure with slower paced songs alternating works but the little nuances are lacking which really hurts the realism of strumming a guitar. Maybe i just gave up too early.
NL which guitar do you use? I’ve tried them all and even installed a third party strum bar but it’s way too clicky for me.

The Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock one, it’s more clicky than the Rock Band ones but it’s less clicky than all the other GH ones I have tried
February 20, 2015 at 2:52 am #438852Thanks haven’t tried it yet but I hear good things. May I ask what yor technique is? Do you use only your thumb or do you make sort of a makeshift pick by pinching your thumb and index finger. Just tried again on my rb wireless guitar and I totally blow. But I must say my downstrokes have gotten so good over the years. I definitely feel it has translated to my real guitar. RB or any rythmn game really helps me sustain my chops.

Sometimes during easy Bass parts I try and play it like a bass with two fingers upstrumming
February 20, 2015 at 6:36 am #438862+1 on Jack Johnson, my absolute most favorite acoustic artist. I love his albums On & On, Brushfire Fairytales, and In Between Dreams. Any songs from those albums would be nice to play.
