I have copied RB1,2,3& Lego on to my PS3 HDD with Multiman. Is it possible to consolidate all the songs into a single library by going through the file system, so that I can play them on RB3? Any help would be appreciated.
February 1, 2015 at 6:38 pm #437538After a lot of reading the forums and some help, yes this is possible. This is how it worked on my PS3. For starters, I was starting with a clean slate (No DLC downloaded from my account yet).
1: connect to psn. to go my downloads and start downloading/installing all of the dlc/export keys you have already purchased.
2:put in Rock Band 1, go to options a the main menu and select export songs. Songs should export if you already paid for the export key. Unfortunately, this doesn’t work with RB2 because the export pack is no longer supported by RB. If I am somehow wrong about this, please let me know how to do this.
3:Now that you have all of the songs that you purchased on you PS3, connect your PC and PS3 with you FTP program (I use Filezilla).
4. Navigate to “/dev_hdd0/game/BLUS30463/USRDIR/” I had to create the “HMX0756” folder, and the “songs folder inside of that one.
5. Open up C3Tools run the PS3 Converter to creat the “/ps3” folder. inside of that folder you will have a “merged songs” folder. In the “merged songs” folder, create a blank DTA file named “songs”. I just copied one from one of my songs and deleted all of the information in it, to make it blank, and pasted it into the folder.
6. take all of your CONS and put them into “songs to merge”
7.open the PS3 converter, click “Tools” then click “merge songs”
8. All songs should merge and the “songs” DTA file should be merged as well in the “merged songs” file.
9. Now FTP them all over to the “HMX0756/Songs” that should be it.
February 4, 2015 at 4:25 pm #437714And by doing what you explained, how would you get all of your DLC’s and exports in one song.dta file to have one big library? As you where expaining you are just adding new customs to the folder HMX0756 folder, and all of your dlc’s are in random folders… the thing I’m trying to do is to get all the songs I have into a single list on one song.dta in con tools, so I can see what songs I got. Cause listing all songs inside game is very painful to do.
By doing that your songs are not in one library cause all of your DLC’s are in their own folders with their song.dta file
February 5, 2015 at 3:21 am #437747The DLC’s were a bit tricky. They did come in their own folders, but its not hard, just tedious. It will be in the same folder as HMX0756, but named its own HMXxxxx folder. I “downloaded” each HMXxxxx folder through FTP onto my computer.
I renamed each HMXxxxx to match the .edat (ie. I made “HMXxxxx” into “cultofpersonality” to match cultofpersonality.mid.edat” I don’t know if this is necessary, but it helped me keep them straight.
Once I did that to all of my songs, then I followed steps 6-9 on my list above. Before I FTP’d them over into “HMX0756”, I deleted the “HMXxxxx” folders that I had originally “downloaded” to my pc through FTP.
Also, the way that worked for me to get them all on one “songs.dta” is; I left my “songs.dta” file that I already had for my library-minus DLC, in the merged songs folder. once I merged my dlc, they were added onto that file and they are now all together in one library on the ps3 since I FTP’d it over.
Let me know if this doesn’t work for you, or if i’m not being clear enough. I am more than happy to help. I just started this stuff about a week ago, and its so freaking cool….but hard to find time for with 3 kids. Best of luck!!
February 6, 2015 at 12:29 pm #437803Well that’s too much work for me. I have over 600 dlc’s and around 450 folders. But the thing I tried to do is to copy one dlc’s official song using merge songs option from c3 con tools, and moved it into HMX0756, it added song.dta on my global song.dta customs list, but I got unable to load song skipping error if I deleted the original HMX folder of that song, as it’s connected to the corresponding rap file (activation), so I still don’t get it how you did it.
February 6, 2015 at 11:49 pm #437868Okay, so I’ve been doing some thinking and re-reading of my steps. This is what I have come up with.
1. I didn’t have the “Free Pack” installed and I created the “HMX0756” Folder and the “songs” folder inside of that one.
2. When you copy over the dlc files to the computer, there is “HMXxxxx” File, then inside of it a “songs” file, then inside of that a folder named after the DLC, and a “songs”dta file. All I did was take the File named after the DLC (Which has a “gen” folder, a mid.edat file, and a mogg file) and I placed it into “songs to merge”. make sure that there is a blank “songs.dta” file in the merged songs folder, or the “songs.dat” file with all of your other songs from your library (which you probably already have), then once all of your DLC is in the “songs to merge” merge them. I double checked all of mine today, and they work just fine. I’m on REBUG 4.65.2 using webman to boot RB3, since I copied mine to my HDD.
I hope this helps. I know you said you have a lot of DLC to to this to, but its so worth it to have them all together. Again, let me know if you have any luck or questions. I will do my best to answer.
February 8, 2015 at 9:15 pm #437987Update to C3 CON Tools is out that should allow you to just put the entire game structure into the songs to merge folder and work as it does with normal ps3 customs when merging songs.
February 10, 2015 at 7:45 am #438110Great, thanks TrojanNemo! Now I will be able to get all of the songs I got in RB. The only thing which won’t work is packs, as they are marked in song.dta file as #1 #2 #3 etc.. if I remember correctly.
