Should I chart sax?

Working on Our House – Madness, and guitar seems quite empty. Though I know it’s probably best not to put the sax parts into guitar, but just thought I would get other peoples opinions.
If you mean there’s no guitar in the verses, I think I do hear an acoustic, or at least cleaner electric, guitar in the background; though it’s rather burried, I think it’s doing a simplified chord progression similar of that of the piano.
As for sax on guitar, if this were a C3 release that most likely would not happen; if you’re not concerned about meeting C3 standards than it’s your choice. Just be aware that sometimes it’s out of our control when a song is just naturally empty on an instrument.
Harmonix has charted horns to guitar in absence of a real guitar chart, even after RB3. I say go for it.

Note that occasionally, like at 0:56, the chart does represent guitar, but still, the chart largely focuses on the horns.

My opinion is: if guitar is mainly empty, if keys have something substantial going on, you can elect to divert what may sound a bit, maybe, by a long stretch of the imagination like guitar to guitar.

If there is a prominent sax solo, I say chart it to guitar since that’s where solos occur most of the time. There is no click-sax available in game so your options are to not chart it or to put it somewhere that it doesn’t technically belong.

That is true, in the recording studio I work in we have a Sax plugin for the synths there that sounds just like the real thing, so it can (and should) usually go to Keys
Hmmm if that’s the case, Ill chart keys then see if sax can fit in there or not. While I do prefer fun over just the same boring thing over and over (such drums when it does kick, red, kick, red at a slow beat) I do want it to actually feel right when I play it. Guess I’ll see how it goes.
Technically, anything that’s not bass, drums and guitar can go to keys because a synth is a belieavable alternative. Again, IF needed, not as a hard rule.
Anytime you have a choice between charting a constant rhythm or a solo instrument go with the solo. It’s more enjoyable for the player and generally the more prominent part heard anyways.

I actually never knew about this song being a thing available for Rock Band DLC. I love it!! Definitely unorthodox charting, which I love

I haven’t heard the actual song in forever, but if there’s a defined guitar part during any section of the song, that should go to guitar. Any other time, though, and it’s really up to you. There’s a lot of factors to consider: whether there’s any guitar going on while the sax is playing or not, whether there’s a piano part at the same time or not and if that piano part is interesting at all… when it comes to stuff like this, I feel like it’s really subjective.
Bottom line, though, whatever is the most fun to play should be charted. Just go with that! Do what you think people will have the most fun playing.
The problem I have with some of the official songs is boring ass key tracks where there are minutes of nothing to do and then a small section of a hook melody, and then back to nothing. There are some easy gold stars for on-disc songs that I haven’t gotten because it’s too boring to wait doing nothing.
If you have a boring guitar section during a sax solo and a boring keys track except for the sax solo, my opinion is to put the sax solo on guitar and skip the keys track. Others disagree and prefer realism at all costs, and that’s fine. But in the end it’s the song content and context and the preference of the charter, but to me one fun track to play is greater than two tracks where one is okay and the other is boring. But again that’s just me.
