Hey there,
First of all, I’m not sure if this is the correct section to post my request (question), or whether it’s condoned at all – so sorry in advance if I’m way off.
Anyways; Since Microsoft changed their system to use real money instead of Microsoft Points, it has become pretty much impossible for some countries to access the songs on The Rockband Network. Before this change, I was able to create an account with a fake US address, transfer some Microsoft Points to that account, and buy the songs I wanted off the RBN. That doesn’t work anymore. So here my request / question;
– Is there any way to still buy the songs off the RBN, using a similar method to what I did previously? Or;
– Is it possible – and condoned – to rip previously downloaded RBN songs, so that they may be shared from one user to another? Like, if X downloaded a specific song from RBN, he could rip it to his PC, and share it to user Y?
The reason I’m asking is, that there’s a few songs from the RBN that I really want to play, and currently, I have absolutely no way of doing so. In case some friendly soul has downloaded the songs I want, and want to help me out by sharing, I’m looking for the following songs;
+ All the songs by Richard Campbell
+ Ayreon – Dawn of a Million Souls
I hope I didn’t violate the forum rules by asking this, and that someone is able to help me out
Thanks in advance.
November 3, 2014 at 1:45 pm #432060I didn’t know RBN wasn’t available everywhere, I thought the restriction was on developers, not users.
Anyway, no, we can’t allow discussions of songs that are available for sale, I’m sorry. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_frown.gif”>

That’s unfortunately the case in quite a lot of countries, Denmark for instance – where I live.
How about a discussion on whether or not a legal method exists to obtaining the songs? Like I mentioned above, if someone knows some sort of work-around, that will allow me to actually purchase the songs?

Of course, that’s perfectly fine. I just can’t believe there’s no way around it, I have accounts for iTunes, which is as sandboxed as can be, for 3 different countries…
November 3, 2014 at 6:53 pm #432069I’m almost positive all you have to do is make an American account, set your address to some hotel in America, and purchase American points online somewhere.
That’s what I recall from gamefaqs back in the day anyway.

Points have been retired. You can’t buy Microsoft Points anymore. Now I have to use my Visa Card to purchase the songs directly, and the Microsoft Store won’t accept my card. Aside from acquiring some sort of American Express Card (or similar) – which would be an absurd amount of work, just for a few DLCs – I’m not sure exactly what to do.

You can still buy Xbox Live gift cards (they look a bit like this). You can find them easily on Amazon or any other online store that sells games stuff.

Was gonna say. If ya can get on Xbox Live just fine then just get some Xbox Live Cards. You can still buy them like that. Plus any leftover points related cards can still be used (though I highly doubt there are any left).
November 5, 2014 at 8:29 am #432167There’s this site called Entropay to generate a virtual prepaid card which works in the US. You put some money on your account using your credit card, and they take 4.5% of commission for each time you transfer money. I use this to pay for my US Netflix account ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” />

This reminds me about 5 years ago I bought an American Express card just to be able to access the UK Singstar store in order to purchase songs that were exclusive to Europe. Had to create a bullshit UK account on my PS3 but god donnit it worked. Yes, there are hoops to jump threw but there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
November 6, 2014 at 1:28 pm #432254I’m not sure if the option is available in your region, but what I have to do is pick up a prepaid Visa card at the post office and use that with an account set to a US address. That’s what I’ve been doing for years since RBN2’s inception, and I still do it.
