Hello mighty authors…
Completed Songs
23rd April – New Radicals – You Get What You Give
RPP, RBproj and wav files here
I’m pretty pleased with this one, and it’s on the Bounty Board, so I hope you like it too. A couple of notes on the charting:
FADE-OUT: There’s a fade-out in the original, which I have tried to edit out. I think I’ve done it relatively well – it was impossible to do it without it being slightly abrupt but I think it works okay.
GUITAR: The weird noise near the start has been charted to guitar – I’ve made this decision based on
video, which seems to show the guitarist making that noise. The part is pretty sparse but there are three short solos which are all pretty challenging.
KEYS: I took the basis for the keys part from a good quality MIDI file and edited to make it suitable. Due to the nature of the RB3 keyboard, some notes have had to be cut out, but I don’t think it affects the enjoyment of playing the song. It’s not too difficult but pretty relentless, hence a 3-dot difficulty on Pro Keys.
VOCALS: A really challenging vocal part, lots of long phrases and some high stuff too.
I’m really keen to share this and I hope you see fit for it to get a C3 release, but if not, please do let me know so I can share it in my Other Customs thread ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />

October 16, 2014 at 10:26 pm #431156Hi. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”> Until the Genesis release none of us may have much time, after that I think the song is famous enough to be picked up.

November 19, 2014 at 1:06 am #433131I’ll sponsor Don’t Panic.
Some feedback to keep you busy until we formally get started:
GUITAR
5.3.50 missing strum
23.4 add a YO for the choke here
25.3 missing YG
26.1 missing YG
27.4 add a YO for the choke here
29.3 missing YG
30.1 missing YG
42.1, 42.3 strum
45.3, 46.1 strum
54.3 left channel, I hear G R G, B starts at 55.1.50 (like at M59)
66.1 strum
67.3.50 right channel, I hear 3 strums
68.3.50 strum
HARD
15.4.50 consider removing 8ths like this (and 19.4.50, etc)
VOCALS
11.1 Homes – slide this from Bb to E at 11.1.43
12.4.50 are(E), 2/64 long
15.3.75 live – chop 2/64 off end
15.4.62 a – 2/64 long
16.1.50 ti-(D), 2/64 long
19.1 extend do and lose the slide to F
20.1.50 ti-(D), 2/64 long
BASS
14.4 I’d wrap this differently so you don’t start the next streak at 15.1 as the same preceding B streak
16.3.50 strum
22.1 strum R
22.3.50 Y not R
(repeat above for second half, etc)
PRO KEYS
23.1 – I’d add a C to make these all long chords (and at the end too)
39.3.50 missing F
40.3.50 missing F
43.3.50 missing F
44.3.50 missing F
44.4.50 missing F
November 19, 2014 at 1:45 am #433133Here’s a triage pass for Walking on the Sun. This quick review is meant to give you feedback, and give potential sponsors an idea of how much work is involved. If no one sponsors it by 12/18, please publish the song in your own thread in Other Customs.
This song is a little sharp (A=454 Hz instead of 440). You’ll probably have to adjust tuning_cents for the vocals to play right.
PRO KEYS
3.1 These are chords, not single notes. Instead of just
F
Eb
C
Bb
it should be
G# C# F
G# C Eb
Eb G# C
Eb G Bb
3.3 this should be at 3.2.50 instead
4.3 this should be at 4.2.50
6.4 missing Eb C
This sort of timing and chord issue persists throughout the song.
VOCALS
20.2, 20.4 it – these should almost be talky. You can get away with leaving it pitched C if you trim them to 2/64. Occurrences like 22.4 are fine as-is.
23.4 are – just chop off the Bb slide
30.4, 34.4 one(G#) +(G) +(F)
(stopped here – fair shape)
BASS
18.4.75 this should be GRY instead of GRR (3 different notes)
22.4, 26.4, 30.4, etc: this doesn’t match the timing – spread it out a bit more, possibly with a triplet grid. The G should be later, like maybe 26.4.68
GUITAR
12.1.75, 14.2.25, etc: no strum here. All these little incidentals should be removed.
19.4 I’d still chart the choke here: B, then BO at 19.4.50 (you did chart it at 20.4)
21.2, 21.2.50, 21.4.50 all BO
Overall readiness: 4/10
November 19, 2014 at 1:54 am #433134If nobody else picks up Walking on the Sun in 2 weeks, I’ll pick it up, but I need you (Ruck) to commit to fixing what needs fixing because this is not exactly the kind of song I love listening over and over again. Let me know if you’re game. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif”>
November 19, 2014 at 2:01 am #433135Sorry for the triage delay – I’ll work through a couple songs each night until I’m caught up.
November 20, 2014 at 3:15 pm #433209Thanks Nyxyxylyth and Farottone – much appreciated ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
I will get those things fixed on Don’t Panic and Walking on a Dream as soon as possible and re-upload. Should I upload RPP and wav files for everything too? Farottone – I’m more than willing to commit to fixing as much as possible and would be grateful for anything you’d be willing to do with it ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” /> but I’m happy to do most of the leg work!
Also, should I refrain from sharing anything in Other Customs that I am submitting to the Show Floor? I’ve shared everything I’ve done so far in Other Customs but would be willing to remove them from my thread if that would be best.

As you know, we love to surprise our audience, so the less they know the better. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif”>
November 24, 2014 at 9:41 am #433424Sorry if this isn’t the right place for this sort of question, but I’ve started to make some Christmas song customs. I’m not planning on sharing them on my Other Customs thread for another couple of weeks or so. Is it worth me uploading them to my Show Floor thread in case they’re of a near-suitable standard, or do C3 have all their Christmas songs (if any) finalised already? Cheers ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />

November 24, 2014 at 3:36 pm #433434This is a fairly expansive list – I’m hoping to get everything done but I think I’ll probably be too late for a C3 release! If there are any that you might want to do, let me know and I’ll prioritise ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
My Priority Choices
– Shakin’ Stevens –
(no idea if this is even slightly well known outside the UK – I have finished this one so can upload straight away if wanted)
– Jethro Tull –
– The Pogues –
feat. Kirsty MacColl
Hoping to do some of these – can prioritise them if the demand is there
– Jona Lewie –
– Band Aid –
(1984 version)
– Slade – Merry Christmas Everybody
– The Darkness –
– Coldplay –
– Greg Lake – I Believe in Father Christmas
– The Waitresses –
If there are any on my list that are already lined up for C3 release, I’m happy to not be told – I like to have a surprise, and I’m enjoying charting things anyway. So feel free to ignore some of them for whatever reason ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
Feeling festive now…!
