Is it possible to generate a vocal chart from a standalone vocal track?

Hi everyone,
I’m currently working on my first custom (thread here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=3003) and I’m starting to think about the vocal track. I have the good fortune of authoring a song for which the remix stems have been made available. The stems aren’t complete enough to recreate each instrument track separately, however it does contain the full track of lead vocals, as well as backing vocals which I have been able to splice back into the instrumental version of the song. Hence, the finished product will have an isolated lead vocal track that can be volume adjusted or turned off without losing the backing vocals.
So my question is, is there any way I can feed Reaper this vocal track and have it generate a MIDI that I can use as a base to start from? Or even any other programs or plugins? Anything? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Cheers guys!

Also be sure to read up on the docs on vocal charting rules and what not if this is your first time charting vocals, some quick things to keep in mind are to not chart consonants that come at the beginning or end of a word as part of the note tube, to chart at a 64th grid in most cases and to not have the beginning or ends of phrase markers touch a note. Also obviously make sure lyrics are spelled correctly and split up correctly ingame as explained more closely in the docs. http://pksage.com/rbndocs/index.php?tit … _Authoring

Very, VERY rough start though. When I started out I used to think that would have been a great idea, I ended up using it for 2 songs and even for those it’s just a very rough canvas. You’re gonna get a ton of unneeded notes, it’s really more of a hassle than anything else.

I knew it would still require a lot of cleaning up, but figured it might be nice to have all the key tones and timing represented visually before starting. I’ll give it a try anyway and see how I go.

Grab your phone, download any good chromatic tuner app, then sing the notes and have the app tell you what they are. That’s a good investment of your time. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”>
September 27, 2014 at 5:58 am #430013Eh, I decided to try doing it by hand/ear first and it’s actually nowhere near as hard as I thought it would be. A little tedious, yes, but quite straight forward. I’ve got a pretty good ear for notes and alt+scrub makes everything so much easier. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />
