So the Rock Band Network has officially been closed today. This is a sad day for a lot of us, for sure. What are your feelings on the matter? What were your favorite RBN tracks, and what were some of the ones you were most looking forward to before this whole ordeal started? Discuss below.

Frankly I’m surprised it took this long to announce it.

We really knew this since earlier this year but I’m glad Harmonix has finally said something about it.

Favorite RBN song? So many to choose but Andromeda “Veil of Illumination Part I and II” is amazing.

Like someone said on Reddit, I thought the last item in the FAQ was interesting…..just more Harmonix teasing I suppose

Q: Is this the end of Rock Band Network? Is this the end of Rock Band?

A: This is the last planned announcement for Rock Band Network for now. Rock Band remains a huge part of the culture here at Harmonix, and there’s not a day that goes by where someone in the office isn’t talking about Rock Band, or planning for the future of the franchise

Just another nail. I haven’t had any real hope that there’d be any more RBN tracks for quite a long time.

As to picking a single favorite, I guess I’ll go with How We Operate by Gomez.

RBN’s real value to me was introducing me to bands that regular DLC never got around to. To name a few: Cohesive, Quiet Company, Felsen, The B.O.L.T., Small Room 9, Amberian Dawn, Ava Inferi, Dance for the Dying and Free Spirit. I could fill up a page with more, but I won’t.

I remember the first few days, picking up random dollar tracks that sounded decent/challenging. I remember getting excited for Jonathan Coulton, Fake Shark-Real Zombie!, 3 Inches of Blood, GWAR, The Main Drag, MC Frontalot, of Montreal, Flight of the Conchords. I picked up a few hundred tracks from RBN, though nowadays I’m going back and deleting lesser played ones to make room for customs.

I wonder if this means RBN no longer will have the stuff needed to make songs for it, or if they are stopping sales of all RBN songs. If it is the latter, I am out of luck, as I need to finish purchasing RBN songs I don’t have yet… BADLY!

My favorite RBN song is a tough decision. It is a tie between Timeless Miracle-Curse Of The Werewolf and I MADE A GAME WITH ZOMBIES IN IT!.

I remember getting really excited at some songs (Steve Vai!) but most I did not know or found not very interesting. It was really sad finding out that Crush 40 and “Weird Al” songs were going to be on RBN but got cancelled in the good old days.

            R. I. P. RBN.

I discovered Jukebox The Ghost and Rival Sons through RBN. Shame to see it go, even if it had passed its Old Yeller threshold. <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_frown.gif” />

That’s spelled out pretty well in the actual announcement:

we will no longer be taking any submissions or releasing new content through RBN. Songs previously released through RBN will continue to be available for sale

That’s too bad, but not a huge surprise at this point.

I will remember it fondly. My favorite song released through it is Pale Sister of Light, since it introduced me to one of my now favorite bands, Free Spirit.

RBN is dead. Long live C3!

                    YES. I’m sorry.

I will always thank RBN for getting Lemon Demon and Sunny Day Real Estate into the game.
