Let me start by saying that I’m very new to this but the game means a lot to me and my family so I wanted to create some songs for us.
So I followed the tutorials on this forum and the videos on authoring and now that I want to build my rba on Magma I’m getting issues that I don’t understand. Currently it’s:
ERROR: MIDI Compiler: (MIDI FILE): Cannot parse MIDI file; one or more MIDI tracks may be corrupt (usually due to missing or extraneous track name events)
ERROR: MIDI Compiler: c:/users/owner/desktop/water redo/water – bb.mid (PART REAL_GUITAR): No left hand position set for gem at 3:1:120
ERROR: MIDI Compiler: c:/users/owner/desktop/water redo/water – bb.mid (PART REAL_GUITAR): No root note set for gem at 3:1:120
MIDI Compiler: Done.
ERROR: Project Compiler: Midi compiler failed.
I am not looking to have the Real Guitar in my song but the track was part of the C3 custom RB3 Template and deleting the tracks for Part Real_guitar and Part Real_Bass caused:
ERROR: MIDI Compiler: (MIDI FILE): Cannot parse MIDI file; one or more MIDI tracks may be corrupt (usually due to missing or extraneous track name events)
I have been working on this song for a while now and I really do not want to give up. If anyone can help I would really appreciate it. Thanks
July 26, 2014 at 7:40 pm #425540Deleting a track shouldn’t be a problem at all (but you can mute it if you want). I got the corrupt file error today too, try exporting the midi under a new name and check your export settings (you can also choose to export selected tracks). Closing Reaper completely after the MIDI export might help too (so it isn’t in use), just to be sure.

July 28, 2014 at 3:52 am #425716And that’s probable because of the old customs template with all that unnecessary junk you have to put up with each time. This is the one I use and it’s avoids lots of problems. (link removed)
Edit: Please don’t post incomplete material. We have a complete template that offers all that’s needed, yours doesn’t. If somebody doesn’t need a specific instrument, they will mute that instrument or delete it from the specific song’s project. Nothing wrong can come from using our official template and on a song by song basis the user can simply delete or mute the unneeded tracks.
July 28, 2014 at 8:37 am #425724And that’s probable because of the old customs template with all that unnecessary junk you have to put up with each time. This is the one I use and it’s avoids lots of problems. http://www.mediafire.com/download/iy7vx … mplate.zipThat “junk” is there so that people can create all the things that are possible to do in RB3 with the tools that we have. You don’t have to export all tracks. It’s easy enough to just export what you want in a MIDI, either by muting the tracks if you have the radio button that says “Export all tracks” selected, or only choose the tracks you want to export and choose the radio button that says “Selected items only”
Looking at the template you decided to link, where are the pro guitar tracks? What if someone wants to create a pro upgrade? No matter how unlikely a new author would want to do that, the option is still there in the C3 template, but not in yours. Not without some editing anyway.
July 28, 2014 at 6:20 pm #425746I remember someone else linked to a similar one where I modified mine. The modifications were probably done based on what is most commonly done. So all audio tracks barely anyone can fill are removed. I liked that decision so I went with that. It’s more streamlined for common things.
