So I have a song without Guitar that I try to have the Bass player lipsync HARM2 parts for, but I can’t for the life of me get HARM2 to make any lip movement for Bass. I even tried using the same dryvox as HARM1, which have working lipsync, but still no dice. Is there any way to work around this? Will the Keys player lipsync them correctly?

If there’s no guitar in the song, then Harm2 is keys (the note in the Venue track that handles guitar normally would instead handle the keys player)

The bassist would still be Harm3 like usual.

For reference, this is how RB3 handles harmonies (this is the playable characters shown on screen, not necessarily what parts the song has):

      Normal (a.k.a. no keys): Guitar = Harm 2, Bass = Harm 3

No Bass: Guitar = Harm 2, Keys = Harm 3

No Guitar: Keys = Harm 2, Bass = Harm 3

If you’re fine with only having one lipsync for all members, there is a method you can do. It involves unchecking harms 2 and 3 in Magma, but still including them in the MIDI when compiling. Then use the quick DTA editor to change the number of vocal parts from 1 to 3 (or 2, if you only have 2 harmonies). This will force the game to use one lipsync file for all members, but still allowing harmonies to be sung. With the limited amount of testing I’ve done this *should* work, since it’s close to the same method that the RBHP uses.

Can we add this to our RBN docs mirror, pksage?

Awesome, thanks for making this more clear to me!

Also when we are still talking about this, is there any good way to make the drummer lipsync the parts of HARM2 or HARM3 without the “everybody sing the same dryvox” trick?

One other way to do it would be to swap harmony parts in the MIDI and dryvox for rendering, and then switch them all back after compiling the MILO file. You can use the precompiled file as override for later. I don’t know how this will affect gameplay, though.

As far as I’ve been aware, drummer cannot lip sync any harmony parts. Lead or solo part only.
