I kicked this idea around in Skype a while back, time to revive it.
The gist is that we’d pick a month, and each of the four weeks of that month would have a three-pack of songs dedicated to a specific instrument. I’m limiting each week to exactly three songs to get the pack filled up quickly, but this also means those three should really be the cream of the crop — if you’ve been air-guitar/drums/keyboarding a song for years and thought, every single time, that that song should be in Rock Band, that’s the kind of song we want! Ideally, songs will be “good” just for the instrument in question. Something like “Roundabout” would be a tough sell, because it’s good on everything.
(Why no vocals week? There are usually four Fridays in a month, not five, and what counts as a “good” vocals song is wildly subjective. It’s easier to objectively define a song with an interesting G/B/D/K line.)
Week 1: Keys
A varied and challenging keyboard part, ideally a famous or recognizable one.
Examples: The Final Countdown (as an RB3 version), Imagine, almost any Yes song
Week 2: Bass
A bassline that is prominently featured or drives the song.
Examples: Funk #49, Hysteria, Tell Me Baby, Rio
Week 3: Drums
A song with a unique or varied drum part, or one with a ton of drum solos.
Examples: Move Along, Love Spreads, uh…I’m sure you guys know this one better than I do
- Bang Camaro – “Out on the Streets” (pksage)
Week 4: Guitar
Should need no explanation. Not limited to blisteringly difficult songs.
Examples: China Cat Sunflower, Shockwave, Smoke on the Water, Back in Black

July 11, 2014 at 12:31 am #424428If you know which month this is in I can try to save an assortment of really interesting RBHP upgrades to give us a ‘vocals’ week.
July 12, 2014 at 7:49 pm #424555Would Michael Jackson’s Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough qualify as a song for bass lovers?
July 24, 2014 at 12:43 pm #425351[Nevermind, other projects are taking priority right now]
July 24, 2014 at 2:05 pm #425353Don’t think I would be able to do any of it myself, but Buckethead for guitar week, Rush for drum week and Primus for bass week seems like something that must happen
July 25, 2014 at 7:07 pm #425454I have a few suggestions. I’d kinda like to maybe do one but I have suggestions just in case anyone wants to see them.
Keys:
– Vanessa Carlton – “A Thousand Miles”
– Sara Bareilles – “Love Song” (I have Pro Keys done on this, so I might be able to do this, depends when release is)
– Daniel Powter – “Bad Day”
– New Radicals – “You Get What You Give”
– Fleetwood Mac – “Songbird”
– Michael Buble – “Haven’t Met You Yet”
– Lou Reed – “Perfect Day”
– Chicago – “Saturday In the Park”
– Electric Light Orchestra – “Evil Woman”
Bass:
– Steely Dan – “Peg”
– The Sugar Hill Gang – “Rapper’s Delight” EDIT: I guess Chic’s “Good Times” could go here as well.
July 25, 2014 at 7:44 pm #425457I’d be up for contributing A Thousand Miles, I had eventually wanted to put that out. I’ve already got Drums and Pro Keys charted, thanks to a decent midi.

Might wanna ask to FTV that instead of doing it from scratch
July 25, 2014 at 7:54 pm #425459I tried PMing that person a while ago to ask if I could use the charts for release but no answer. So if uSound has the most time consuming parts charted I’d say just continue to use uSound’s charts.
July 26, 2014 at 7:45 pm #425543If they haven’t responded in the past, I might as well not waste my time. I’ll probably use that video as a sort of guide for the venue if I decide to put more work into it, but I don’t mind doing the rest. Like drummerrockband said, the two hardest charts are done, and I have that midi to help with the vocals.
August 18, 2014 at 4:11 am #427312So I just finished watching Disney’s Tarzan and thought one of the songs should be included in the drums week. The song’s called “Trashin’ the Camp”. Here’s a link:
August 23, 2014 at 10:31 am #427737So another idea I had was for Guitar/Bass. Maybe some more stuff from Rodrigo y Gabriela, to go along with “Buster Voodoo” and “Hanuman”. Might be able to make mulittracks since it’s only 2 guitars in the songs.
August 23, 2014 at 10:50 am #427738I’m not sure either suggestions are cream of the crop but obviously it’s up to pksage to evaluate them. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”>
August 23, 2014 at 2:33 pm #427747Rodrigo y Gabriela would work really well for Guitar week IMO so +1 to that, not so much for Bass week though since it’s technically rhythm guitar ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif” />
