Hey thought this would be a nice idea for a thread.

If you could name 1 band, 1 song, 1 custom that you have never heard before and that you have only discovered from playing this beautiful game of Rock Band, what would it be?

I know there will be a few bands / songs but name only ONE. One officially released band, one officially released song and one custom song that you hold in highest regard. You can also have bands/songs that you have heard of before, but never listened to until it came out via RB (Store or Disc)

Feel free if you want to add comments on the reasons why you love it, here are mine to start the ball rolling:

    Band: The Allman Brothers Band

Song: TV On Radio – Wolf Like Me

Custom: Diablo Swing Orchestra – Balrog Boogie

    Cool thread,dude.I take the ball:

Band:Absolutely Children of Nova or maybe Free Spirit.Never heard these bands before they put some songs on RBN.Both are Awesome bands IMHO.

Song: There are so many! but I’ll say Bang Camaro.Awesome guitar solos on that one.Even though I knew the band for Guitar Hero.

    Custom:Hard to say only one,but I’ll stick with any Queensrÿche song,They’re pleasantly delicious to play. <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_emot-3.gif” />

      Band: iwrestledabearonce

Song: Between the Buried and Me – Selkies: The Endless Obsession

      Custom: El Caco – Substitute

Simply put, Rock Band has essentially introduced me to most of the music I listen to today. If it weren’t for having gotten access to the music store and such I would have never learned to appreciate metal, progressive rock, etc., and I’d probably be listening exclusively to radio pop. I typically enjoy playing the metal stuff the most, though almost all the songs I’ve downloaded I’ve enjoyed listening to (there are a few exceptions, but that’s to be expected after getting over 1,000 additional songs in the game).

Choosing a C3 song was the hardest, because I had actually heard of most of what we’ve released thus far, and the ones I hadn’t heard of were hard to choose a solitary song from. I think the one I’ve listed has been one I’ve been playing/listening to the most, though.

There’s also a lot of bands I’ve heard of thanks to the RB community, though most of those have yet to have songs authored that I’ve played. Who knows, I may author some of those some day…

      Band: (The) Devin Towsend (Project)

From the moment I heard ZTO I knew this was pure brilliance, so good it almost makes me wanna drink coffee. Almost.

Song: iwrestledabearonce – Tastes Like Kevin Bacon

My introduction into Avant-Garde-Core-Weird-Metal-Stuff and still my favorite song from that style. More songs need harp solos.

Cutom: Mic The Mic – Beyond Her Tomb

The song that taught me that Rap have artistic merit, I cry every time

The material: Moving to Seattle. IIRC, it was one of the first DLC. Song is pretty simple but uber catchy.

One Band: Rishloo, specifically the Feathergun album. This album is so gorgeous I had to get it on Vinyl. I just love how heartfelt it sounds and the technical work on all of the instruments is beautiful. Honorable mention goes to BTBAM, who has only been improving with each release.

One Song: “Caravan”, by Rush. I hadn’t heard anything recent by Rush, until I bought the last Rush pack, which included Caravan. I ended up not playing it for a good while because it wasn’t a song I knew, but when I eventually did, I was so impressed, I quickly went out and got Vapor Trails and Clockwork Angels as soon as they popped up in my local record shop.

One Custom: This one’s tough. I’ve been introduced to a lot of new stuff through customs, but I’d have to say my favorite song that I first heard through a custom would be “Time Again” by Asia. It’s just got such an energy behind it that makes it a great track to listen to.

        Band: Jukebox the Ghost

Song: The James Rocket – Paper Valentines

Custom: William Shatner – Common People (was not aware he did a cover until I saw Nyx’s pre-C3 preview video)

Band: Tegan and Sara (I know holy shit, right?)

Song: No Doubt – “World Go ‘Round” (after hearing this, this is my favourite from Tragic Kingdom.)

Custom: Huey Lewis and the News – “Heart and Soul” (RB is the first time I heard it and since I liked other Huey Lewis songs, I gave it a try and I love it.

Band: Rose of Jericho. I dunno why, but I really, really like their pop-rock stylings. Midnight Eyes has moved its way very, very quickly up my list of most-played songs.

Song: Free Spirit – Pale Sister of Light. I was thiiiiiiiiiiiiiis close to putting Free Spirit as the band, but opted not to. Either way, this is my favorite of their songs. It’s a blast to play on everything.

Custom: Bon Jovi – Dry County. I admittedly know very, very little of Bon Jovi outside of Slippery When Wet. After hearing all the high praise this song got, I downloaded it and gave it a play. And then another play. And then one more, just for fun, until I realized I’d been playing the same song for half an hour. Still, I’m really happy that I got it.
