Quick question… How does one convert the music files from a RB3CON (or DLC) file into a MP3? Without losing it’s sound? (Last time I tried, it kinda lost it’s quality and was horrible to listen to).
I’m asking cause there is the RB3 version of a few songs I would love to commonly listen to. (Like Bon Jovi’s “You Give Love a Bad Name”, PrinceWhateverer’s “Taking Flight”, or P1K’s “The Party Hasn’t Ended”).
I wish to listen to these versions because of either A: they don’t fade away and actually have an ending… Or B: There is a line in the original version which I HATE WITH A PASSION and was removed or replaced in the RB3 version.

June 23, 2014 at 12:23 am #423290So you’re asking how you can take the encrypted, copyrighted audio from an official song, and turn it into a mp3 for your personal use. You don’t see how the encrypted, copyrighted part is an issue? That kind of discussion has been had already. Some of it can be done. Some of it can’t be done. None of it is allowed on here.
But wait for official word from an admin.
June 23, 2014 at 12:23 am #423291You’re basically asking how to decrypt them (perhaps without knowing that’s what you’re asking), which is a no-no.
I assume you’ve already examined the readily apparent options of YouTube video downloading + converting and/or recording from your TV, which pretty much only leaves decryption afaik.
June 23, 2014 at 12:24 am #423293I assume you’ve already…Really? Don’t you know what happens when you assume?

Okay then… But what about the non-official related ones? I don’t really care for Bon Jovi’s song but I really would like to have the RB3 version of PrinceWhateverer’s Taking Flight song, which is already shared for free by PrinceWhateverer himself. Plus it is a RB3CON file (custom) so it shouldn’t be coded or anything like that…
I can understand on official songs but please explain to me why not on the fan-songs which are already free by their artist?
June 23, 2014 at 1:16 am #423302I can understand on official songs but please explain to me why not on the fan-songs which are already free by their artist?Because this operation is all about creating and giving out content to play in game. We have 0 interest in making it seem like part of what we do is giving advice to people on how to crack open a CON file and get an MP3 out of it.
June 23, 2014 at 1:27 am #423303Which is to say, you can do whatever you want, but you got to figure it out on your own. Not discuss it here.
If that PrinceWhateverer song is distributed freely, then why are you not getting it from him? There is no need to get it from a CON when the original is available.
I’ll also add this. It’s complicated. It involves knowing how to get all the mono channels and combine the appropriate ones into stereo files, then applying attenuation values to each track as needed, then finally merging into a stereo file. It really is not worth the hassle, beyond everything else that has been said.

I don’t understand why you need to extract a copy of a song made available by an artist from a CON containing the song by that artist.
If it’s not encrypted, you should easily be able to get it out, because the mogg is just a mogg. If it is, sorry, you’re on your own.

Like Nightmare Lyra said. The RB3 version of the song doesn’t fades away and lasts an extra like 20 seconds. (Being around a 5 minutes and 21 seconds long). The fade away version is 4 minutes and 58 seconds long…
Bad thing is, it is a pretty amazing guitar solo at the ending and the fading away kinda just ruins the feeling of said guitar solo…

Right, I know, so the point I’m trying to make is that this particular mix of the song is not “already shared for free”.
If it’s not encrypted, you should just be able to open the mogg. If it is encrypted, no, we will not assist or permit discussion of decryption of the audio — for what it’s worth, this still falls under our blanket policy on this topic, freely shared/artist-consented or not.
My recommendation would be to talk to the artist.

We’re not saying it’s bad that you want to crack open a file or that you want to access stems to listen to a separated instrument or that you want an MP3 file of the exact same version of the song you play in game. We just don’t want to give real estate to those discussions here.
June 23, 2014 at 1:14 pm #423328I’m kind of curious what line from a song he hates so much that he can’t listen to the song with it in.
