I have made a few posts around the board, but this is a formal statement of what I am working on.
Clockwork Angels (Album)
######################
First off, please note, I have intention to do ONLY the drums for this album. This started as a personal project only for myself, and when I am finished I will provide a link on where to download for people who would also like them. Double bass is being charted for songs that have them (which I think most do), and both version will be included.
As this was originally a charting for myself, please note that it is slightly preferenced towards my kit as well. I have only Yellow and Green cymbal attachments, thus most of my Crash work focuses on them (there are blue, just not as previlent, which may feel a bit weird for those not playing pro. Also, the heavy tom work does use a right hand snare hit. During the tom sections, if you are playing on a standard kit, you will need to double hit with your left hand for the snare. My kit is set more towards a true kit (with the snare between my legs, so the chart is set to play for that). If you do not know what that mean, look up the Caravan chart during the big tom section. Lastly, any double bass sections that are converted to single bass will maintain the “right-foot bass” precedence rule. mainly because my second pedal is broken at the moment, and I would like to ‘ghost’ the double correctly.
In this end, this is what will be included:
BU2B (finished)
Clockwork Angels (finished)
The Anarchist (in progress)
Carnies
Halo Effect (finished)
Seven Cities of Gold
The Wreckers
Wish Them Well
The Garden
Clockwork Angels (Album Medley)
– Caravan has an official chart, and while I have personally went through myself and tweeked some sections, that will not be released (I will likely offer up the replacement .mid which one can use C3Tools to overwrite the original if you would like).
– BearzUnlimited has a very well done Headlong Flight already in the Database, so I will leave that up for you all to download yourselves.
– BU2B2 has no drums.
– Clockwork Angels (Album Medley) will be one song file that plays through the ENTIRE Clockwork Angels album in one sitting. Included with this will be my Caravan chart, Headlong Flight (with BearzUnlimited’s permission), and BU2B2 as it is a part of the story. In-between each song will be a 30 second audio clip of Neil Peart reading a part from the Clockwork Angels novel. This is for the full Clockwork Angels experience, and for those who want a full and easy playthrough of the Album without breaks. This will come in a standard and a x2-bass version as well.
I am still in the early stages of this, and this is my side project in life (only about 7-10 hours a week) for right now. Thus, I would expect the final release closer to mid-June. I may start putting up individual downloads after I get what is finished out for a bit of testing.
Also, once finished, I will gladly give out my files to other authors who wish to chart more instruments / venue track transitions. I would love to see the entire album fully* charted and such, but sadly I feel I am not the man for that job.
Journey – Faithfully
################
I am also in the works of creating a fully Faithfully file. At this time, this is what I have done and want to get done:
Guitar
Bass (still to-do)
Drums
Solo Vocals (finishing up)
Keys [Pro and 5-lane]
Every instrument will have all difficulties and at least basic animations. I am not truly skilled with the venue track yet (as these are my first solo charts), so I will probably have some help with that when I finish the charting.
Expect a playable version of this (transitions and camera work baring) later this month.

Plus, they’re really challenging, so kudos to you.
I’m just gonna give a small piece of advice: 9 user out of 10 will probably steer clear of improper charts. Or, they may download them, play them once and then get frustrated at them. I understand perfectly the desire to chart something according to one’s specific preferences but keep in mind that if you go the extra mile and deliver these to the public, it may be for not much if the chart is wrong by the game’s standards. If a chart is awkward to all the people who don’t have your exact drums setup, I’m not sure gong through the hassle of polishing it for a public release is worth it. Having the ride charted on yellow or having the user cross arms when not strictly absolutely needed is not the proper way to go. Which is not to say you shouldn’t of course, just consider that if you do chart the correct version and release it and then tweak your own version and keep that for your own needs you’re gonna get much more love. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”>
May 12, 2014 at 3:09 pm #420055Those were more of a heads up. In all honestly, they don’t seem too big of a deal in the end.
The Crash situation is more preference, but I feel it does not really throw anything off. A lot of songs will have a double big swell on the Blue and Green, while mine would just be on the yellow/green. The ride is still on the blue, as with any open-high hats or other accents. Mostly, that JUST focuses on if Peart is moving across more than one Crash. Let’s say there was a four Crash sections with a double at the end (on different crashes). I charted it on Green -> Yellow -> Green -> Yellow & Green, when another author might have done those on blue, or maybe G-Y-B-YG. Plus, they are not completely removed, I still have a good number of Blue crashes if I was just focusing on the hi-hat.
The crossover part is one of the things that Harmonix themselves have gone back and fourth on. They have put some charts out with a “altered” charting so that a player can hit the snare with their left hand, but most of their recent charts have made the player either sweep under, or double hit left.
An example of what I’m talking about is here:
This section is really similar to parts of the Clockwork Angels album, and that is what I mean.

May 12, 2014 at 4:11 pm #420059could you post a sample of it, im very interested on rush druming, with this finished only left Vapor trails to be completed on drums to finish rush discography at least on drums. sideshow did a great job converting Rush debut album & caress of steel too, i guess i can help you with some few tracks if you want, BU2B2 is a a kind of Eleanor Rigby so i can chart violins on guitar part.

May 12, 2014 at 10:15 pm #420086Yellow + Green crashes are very nice espcially to rush songsm for example i only chart them as yellow in some situations with at least 3 crashes in a row. i have a friend that has the perfect midi drums to play rush songs on rock band 3 & cover them, i think it would be the config goes like this:
Drums:
2 Reds = Snare & Tom 0
1 Yellow = Tom 1
1 Blue = Tom 2
1 Green = Floor Tom
2 Kicks = Double Bass Pedal
Cymbals:
2 Yellow = Hi Hat & Crash
2 Blue = Ride & Open Hi Hat
2 Green = 2 Crash
I guess we have to have this drum set to play well the rush songs on rb3, what do you think?

Sadly, it’s a screen cap and running on my laptop is isn’t the best. The audio was all messed up, and due to the way it was recorded, it is playing back slightly faster than the music itself, so putting the .mp3 file behind it wouldn’t match up… so you’ll have to use your imagination haha.
Note that by finished, I really mean a more so “basically charted”. I did Clockwork Angles first because I really wanted to do it and it was my first one so that was exciting. I then moved to Halo Effect because it seemed much easier. I can see a few errors still in this chart already, and I’m planning on going back in order to fix them completely (I know in here there is one or two “pro” toms which aren’t right and hit cymbals).
Again sadly, this quality isn’t really great so when I start finishing up and absolutely perfecting them, I’ll start uploading the files to testing so people can download them and try/play for whoever wants to.
June 14, 2014 at 5:06 am #422512How is Faithfully coming along? looking forward to it.
June 14, 2014 at 5:20 am #422514How is Faithfully coming along? looking forward to it.Faithfully has every instrument with reductions besides vocals… It’s currently on the show floor about to be picked up by someone.
Note as well, I’m not going to be updating this post much anymore. After I finish the drum charts, I’m handing them off to another user who is doing the other instruments and posting them in the “other” customs… When I’m close to finished I’ll make another post putting everything in one place.

That 9 out of ten would have me in the 9 and below. I only get finished customs

July 1, 2014 at 1:06 pm #423763Other Customs Discussion ‹ Rush Clockwork Angels: Full Instruments and EMH Reductions
If anyone has not seen them, ^here is a forum path to ejthedj’s post. That is where the full version’s of the songs are being released. At this current time, finished up are:
BU2B (There’s a Album Version and Single Version)
Clockwork Angels
Halo Effect
BU2B2
Wish Them Well
Coming in the next week are two:
Caravan (Single Version) [finally got permission to upload this]
The Anarchist [ejthedj is charting this now]
Faithfully is being finished up and polished now as we speak. I was focused on the Clockwork Angels album and another side project, which side-tracked me a bit; this is being finished up now.
Also, for the people still hung up about my statement of “building charts for my set”.
It’s honestly not noticeable, and I should not have said anything. The cymbals really are not an issue. It’s made to flow, and I have another user who’s checking my drum files and they are not an issue. Just picture a 4 note crash section that Peart does a lot. Instead of maybe it being charted by Harmonix as G/B/G/YG, it’s instead G/Y/G/YG or G/G/Y/YG, unless it’s a heavy hi-hat section where it might be charted as G/B/G/YG anyways to help differentiate.
The toms are actually the way that Harmonix charted Caravan and The Hockey Theme anyways, so there should be no concern there.
In the end, I guess what I meant to say is that the charts “look” better and play a little easier on a Pro Drum set. There is a lot of tom work on this album, so the use of all three pads for toms was necessary (ie, Yellow, Blue, AND Green). Thus, there a some sections where the green pad is used to end a tom roll into a crash. Pro drums will have the cymbal appear and allow for a more realistic play. Charting a 4-5 tom section onto JUST yellow/blue would look and play really badly. I could only fudge the pads so much to balance real and fun together for both.
September 26, 2014 at 10:14 pm #429970Any word on Faithfully? Really looking forward to it! ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
September 29, 2014 at 3:19 am #430135Finishing up the Pro Keys now. I have a general idea of how to play the song on a real piano, but the studio version has a lot of “personal” playing touches that I have to chart out by hand. Everything else besides the pro keys are finished. An admin is already waiting on the show floor to finish it up after that.
