I’m going to keep the number of songs I post to a few at a time, as to not amass a giant list of temporary zippy links. <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” /> What I will do though, is make a downloadable text file with the songs I post so that in case you missed one, I can eventually rotate it back for download in the future.

These are for anything really. Listening to, charting an RB3 track, discovering new (old) music, whatever.

Edit: Mini-Editorial – Cleaning with glue and next albums in cue.

There’s a lot of ways one can go about getting stuff out of the grooves in your lps. Brushes, expensive devices that vacuum the vinyl, sprays, mats, and all sorts of other stuff. Even the stylus itself cleans out the grooves each play. However, it was the brother of a long time friend that told me he used wood glue on his albums back in the day. I laughed and told him how ludicrous that was. You’d just wreck the record. He told me to try it.

Still being the skeptic, I popped onto youtube, and found videos of other people recommending it, and showing how to do it. Namely the two found Here and

. So I set about finding the most scuzzy, and least valuable album in the collection. I had a scratched up, dusty, fingerprint-laden loaner copy of Alice Cooper’s Killer on hand. So I dumped a blob of wood glue on the first side, and using an old $20 PSN card, spread the glue around evenly to get out any bubbles. Then I took some old printer paper from the recycling, and tore out a few paper tabs, and set them into position around the rim, gently pressing them into the glue.

Then I waited, and waited, and waited. It ended up taking almost 48 hours to dry because I’d put far too much on. It peeled off fairly sloppy, and made a tiny mess on the turntable. A part hadn’t dried underneath. After wiping all that up with distilled water, I put the record on, and was about to play it, until I noticed it was saturated in static. So I let it sit for a few hours to dissipate.

The album actually came out sounding pretty great, despite that it was pretty beat up. So I did the same to the 2nd side, and got the same result. Now I put the glue onto the lp while it sits on a large sheet of glass (that I use for flattening/baking vinyl), to keep from making a mess of the turntable. I also only use it sparingly, since it uses a lot of glue, and I’m hesitant to put it on anything that isn’t far gone.

After all, I don’t think I’d hear the end of it if I did that to Led Zepp, Floyd, or a vintage Beatles lp. :aaaaa:

As for the next albums in queue for ripping, more loaners from my friend and his brother’s collection.

    Song List Post.

Track List File: NA just yet.

    Current LP rips:

Although a tad obscure, I discovered this album molding away in the back of some LPs I got from my old man’s collection. It was in bad shape, but I managed to pull these off of the album after a major sterilization effort. Many know ELO’s All Over The World, and maybe even the title track. I totally recommend Dancin’ for a nice blend of song styles, and even the overly sappy/cheesy Don’t Walk Away.

    Xanadu Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

Electric Light Orchestra – All Over The World

Electric Light Orchestra – Don’t Walk Away

Electric Light Orchestra – The Fall

Electric Light Orchestra – I’m Alive

Electric Light Orchestra ft. Olivia Newton-John – Xanadu

Olivia Newton-John ft. The Tubes – Dancin’

Olivia Newton-John ft. Cliff Richard – Magic

    Olivia Newton-John – Suddenly

Olivia Newton-John – Suspended in Time

Olivia Newton-John ft. Gene Kelly – Whenever You’re Away from Me

You can’t go wrong with Foghat. After hearing the Slow Ride cover in GH3, I was horrified to see this beat up LP warped and in a falling apart sleeve in a friend’s old collection. I gave it a flattening with two sheets of glass, and a stack of magazines, for a month and then tried playing it. It now sits safely in a new sleeve, flat, and playable again.

Foghat – Fool For the CIty 3-Pack

Foghat – Fool For The City

    Foghat – My Babe

Foghat – Slow Ride [Album Version]

Not to much work was done here, as it was a loaner from a friend’s collection. A tad dusty, but nothing a quick cleaning couldn’t fix.

    Heart – Dreamboat Annie 2-Pack

    Heart – Crazy On You

    Heart – Magic Man

Here’s an experimental vox removal I ran this internet favorite through, for the heck of making it a karaoke track. Kinda worked I guess. Remember to stay safe around trains.

    Here’s the music vid:

    Other Songs

Tangerine Kitty – Dumb Ways to Die (Karaoke)
