Having problems trying to chart a BRE in a drums only chart. I guess, first question is, can a drums only chart have a BRE? I put a [bre] at the beginning of it and filled all 5 DRUM FILL lanes. When I run Magma I get:
ERROR: MIDI Compiler: (EVENTS): bre event at [152] is not allowed
April 4, 2014 at 6:03 am #416948The event for a BRE is [coda]
Try that, and it should work. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
April 4, 2014 at 2:24 pm #416961Just like the docs said…i thought coda referenced []…just like the docs said…i hope Trojan doesn’t read this, lol. Thanks.
October 22, 2014 at 1:22 am #431424a little help please. I’ve placed the [coda] in the EVENTS track where I want the BRE to begin and I charted the last note for the drums which is a crash and bass drum. I’m able to compile and test however during the BRE when I playtest, it says something about bonus score but it says “0” and the score never changes. Also, when I’m going crazy on the drums I do not hear anything but bad notes and clanks. What am I doing wrong? I tried to add the fills (5 lanes) to the BRE but it will not compile. Am I missing something? The guitars have notes and they work fine but I want the drummer to have the ability to freestyle. Any help appreciated.
October 22, 2014 at 7:10 am #431436You’d need to have the drum fill notes starting at the same place as the [coda] event.
See the docs for specifics related to other instruments here
October 23, 2014 at 1:32 am #431484thanks for the help Addy but I’m still lost. Here’s what I’ve done so maybe someone can see my mistake:
[*]I placed the [coda] text even in the EVENTS track at the beginning of where I want the BRE to begin
[*]No vocals so there should be no issue here
Here is where I think the issue may be as it’s not very clear in pksage’s instructions:
The final hit of a song should occur after the BRE markers end. It is required for Guitar/Bass/Drums/Keys. This is very important, if there isn’t a final note, the BRE score will not count.
So should there be a BRE marker for the end of the BRE? I don’t know the text event. Is it something like [coda_end]? I tried but wouldn’t compile. I placed a note for guitar/bass/drums at the very end. Is this incorrect?
What is happening when I’m playing the BRE the score comes up in the middle but never changes from “0”. Also guitar/bass/drums do not do anything. I can go crazy on all instruments but no sound and no score change. At the end of the song the smoke poof comes up so I know the BRE is working but not fully.
pksage also says:
No notes should overlap the beginning or the end of a BRE. Be sure to check your work in game to make sure this isn’t happening.
This contradicts the last statement as there should be a final note however without a [coda] end event any note that the songs ends with is actually charted during the BRE. Hope this makes sense. Thanks again for the help.
October 23, 2014 at 1:38 am #431485Essentially, you need a note after the BRE lanes finish on G/B/D/K/PK, but it shouldn’t touch the lanes at all. Play a RB1 song with a BRE to see how it should be laid out (for example Don’t Fear The Reaper)
October 23, 2014 at 1:33 pm #431513Got it Nightmare! I guess my lanes were touching the last note. I put a 1/32 space between the lanes and the final note and it compiled! Thanks guys!

October 23, 2014 at 3:16 pm #431521probably not, trying to figure out what plays best for the song. Thanks again everyone
