Firstly, let me note that this is my first project, and something that I just got into. I’m have a “dream” of creating carts for the full Rush – Clockwork Angels album, and I just started this past week.
As of right now, I finished the drum track for Clockwork Angels (song), and I wanted to test it out and see how it actually plays. The issue is, I keep getting different errors when using the C3 Roks MIDI tester, and I wanted help with them.
Also, please note that I AM* using the Custom RB3 Template!
I have noticed that on the template, the PART REAL_BASS is labeled PART REAL_GUITAR, so I changed that back to fix that error. After that I get two errors:
ERROR: MIDI Compiler: c:/users/lenny/desktop/rock band customs/magma/test/clockwork angels.mid (PART REAL_KEYS_X): File: e:prjrbnsystemsrcbeatmatchSongParser.cpp Line: 2394 Error: mKeyboardRangeSecondPitch == -1
at 1:2:000
ERROR: MIDI Compiler: PART KEYS: Empty track found
The second error is easily fixed by adding a note to the X-Keys track.
From here I just have the first errors about the mKeyboardRangeSecondPitch == -1. This, I have no real idea about. Through guessing, I made an assumption (that can likely be wrong) on trying to fix it.
I took all of those out except the A2-C4 range, since all the other Real_Keys only have that one. I also added a note in the MIDI. After doing that, I get these:
ERROR: MIDI Compiler: c:/users/lenny/desktop/rock band customs/magma/test/clockwork angels.mid (PART REAL_GUITAR): No left hand position set for gem at 3:1:120
ERROR: MIDI Compiler: c:/users/lenny/desktop/rock band customs/magma/test/clockwork angels.mid (PART REAL_GUITAR): No root note set for gem at 3:1:120
ERROR: MIDI Compiler: c:/users/lenny/desktop/rock band customs/magma/test/clockwork angels.mid (PART REAL_BASS): No left hand position set for gem at 3:1:120
ERROR: MIDI Compiler: c:/users/lenny/desktop/rock band customs/magma/test/clockwork angels.mid (PART REAL_BASS): No root note set for gem at 3:1:120
I do not know much about the Real Guitar/Bass yet, so I was wondering if I could get some help fixing these.
April 3, 2014 at 8:56 pm #416914If you have charted only drums, considering exporting only drums, events, backing, and venue. You have the option when exporting your .mid to only export selected tracks, so Ctrl+Click to select those and export it. Then just set up your Magma project to only have that track for instruments.
April 3, 2014 at 10:55 pm #416928I would love nothing more than to have the full Clockwork Angels album to play. That said, consider that these are complicated songs to attempt for your first authoring experience. Think about choosing a very simple song (4/4 beat throughout, no harmonies, no keys) from some other artist for your first song to use as your learning experience. I’ve made 35 songs (not all released) and I still don’t know if I am ready for Clockwork Angels. If you are determine though, maybe Wish Them Well is the best song off the album to start.
April 3, 2014 at 11:39 pm #416929A real easy way to not export unwanted tracks is to just Mute each track that you dont want. Like Espher said, you need Events, Beat, and Venue for sure. Not sure if Countin is needed but I always put that in as well.
April 4, 2014 at 12:36 am #416930Ah, thank you. I didn’t understand much about how I was exporting, so I just exported them all. For right now* at least, I’m only planning on doing Drums and possibly Vocals, so can I just delete the MIDI tracks from my projects besides the SONG, Drums, Vocals, Events, Beats, Venue? (To make it easier to export?)
Also, I’m having another issue now. I got the project to compile and such, and went to test it on my xbox. The audio is out of sync from the chart. I know that everything is sync’d up in REAPER, so thinking there is another issue.
My searching through this site led me to some things about the REAPER Audio Out settings and such? I just don’t know too much about this. Personally, this is what I did:
– I set the [music_start] in Event to the actual correct location, and I’m wondering if that helped.
More so, I think I am messing up settings in the C3. Here is what I’m using:
(I’m only trying to have Drums at the moment, so the other’s are turned off)
Am I doing something wrong with the audio associations?
I’m guessing that the Backing Track IS the main Clockwork Angels.wav file since I do not have STEMs. However, I’m a bit confused for what to put with the Drum Kit one.
Originally, it was one of the audiostereo ones. However, it was giving me a Hz issue (which I’m guessing I am doing wrong). I just set it as the Cockwork Angels.wav file and it seemed to compile correctly (I was under the assumption it would act like a STEM).
Any advice to help me sync up, as in-game has my audio about 1 measure early as of now.

I think I’m going to be fine for now, as I’m just focusing on the Drum track for my* entertainment. I might transition into other instruments after, but I don’t think I’d do a very good job with them.
Playing drums for 10 years is a big help.
April 4, 2014 at 1:08 am #416935In reaper, click on the song audio track(have it highlighted) and then go to File/ consolodate/export tracks. Make sure its a 16 bit PCM or 24 bit PCM. This will convert your MP3 into a WAV which you import into Magma into the backing track of the audio section. Also, assuming you have tempo mapped the song, when you go to File/ export project midi; make sure you click on the “Embeded Tempo Map” before exporting or I believe you audio will be out of sync when you play it in game. For the drum track in Magma you need to put in the “stereo44.wav” file which should be in your MAGMA audio folder if your consoladated WAV file is 16 bit or put in “stereo44_24.wav” if your WAV is 24bit.
April 4, 2014 at 2:17 am #416941Yes, thank you. That what my issue.
The consolidation makes sense right after I did it. I’m guessing where I personally “move” the file to on the MIDI chart is not saved, so you need to consolidate to append that blank space in the beginning.
Working fine now.
