Where’s the melodic metal bands? Not so much the screaming stuff, but a lot of these type of bands have a certain “flow” and distinctness to them. So far, I’ve been the only person that ever charted these type of things. I’m still working (slowly) on my few that I want to get done, but here are some other songs that would be nice to get, too, if any metal charters are stuck on things to chart:

    Atreyu:

    Demonology and Heartache

    Right Side of the Bed

    Ex’s and Oh’s

    When Two Are One

    In Flames:

    The Jester Race

    December Flower

    My Sweet Shadow

    Reflect the Storm

    Crawl Through Knives

    Killswitch Engage:

    Daylight Dies

    A Bid Farewell

    Never Again

    Trivium:

A Gunshot to the Head of Trepidation

    Torn Between Scylla and Charybdis

    Ascendancy

    Drowned and Torn Asunder

Pull Harder on the Strings of Your Martyr

These kind of songs appeal to not only the metal lovers, but the people who like a challenge with some meaty riffs. There’s nothing retardedly-absurd or ridiculously hard with the riffs, unlike how relentless black metal and screamo throws out there (which I strongly dislike). The vocals aren’t super-death either, so you can actually listen to these like they’re songs. They each have their own unique sound that separates them from other bands, which is why they’re amazing. They’re highly regarded, yet these bands don’t seem to have many, if any, songs that are official on RB outside of just a few songs altogether from these bands.

You know, if you want your requests to be taken into consideration it helps not insulting the tastes of the people who are most likely to chart these type of songs <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” />

I have Becoming the Bull and Right Side of the Bed in my spreadsheet here, only Expert Guitar and Drums though. I’ll do some more Atreyu eventually.

I’m not sorry for what I said. It’s true. That type of metal genre I was referring to just isn’t fun to play on Rockband. They’re typically unrealistically hard, uncoordinated, and full of random chords and notes that don’t make any sort of a fun-sounding riff or song in general to play in these types of games.

There’s still many people out there that only chart these types of songs, but they just don’t chart for RB3 full-bands.

I have no other way to reply to that but by:

You could try to be a little less harsh towards things you hate. It’s fine if you don’t like something, but you don’t have to put anyone else with a differing opinion down. There’s plenty of things I dislike, but I don’t go around calling people weird or saying they’re wrong for enjoying those things, because they just find value in things that I am probably too closed minded to find value in.

        Also, tell me how

doesn’t look like a fun challenge, because to me it’s fun as hell.

I never put anyone down, that’s why I said I’m not sorry. I stand by what I said that majority of the metal that’s in Rockband at this point is very unappealing, and not my style. If most people who chart that sort of stuff were the same people that chart my suggestions, then why are there no songs from these bands? All I stated was my opinion on the type of music we already have. All I stated was there’s no coordination to the music that makes it anywhere near fun in Rockband for me, let alone most people that are around me.

Typically, you say “I’m not sorry” when you know you offended someone and don’t care, so that’s kind of bad wording on your part.

Also, as someone who listens to all kinds of metal, including the stuff you’re requesting and the stuff you don’t enjoy, I’d have to say that there is much more structure to most of the metal songs on RBN than you’d come to expect. Is it verse-chorus-verse? No not really, but there are overlaying structures that hold the song together, and most of these songs have some sort of theme repeated throughout, whether it be repeated lyrics in a Between the Buried and Me song, or some riffs being similar in “Let the Blood Spill Between My Broken Teeth” by Benighted. And these songs build themselves around those themes. So saying they have “no structure” is rather redundant, because they have structure, just not the kind of structure you’re looking for, which again is fine. I get that it’s not your cup of tea. I’m just pointing out one common “misconception.”

As for why someone who enjoys the music you’re suggesting not charting it yet, who says we aren’t? I’m going to go into “spoiler” territory and say that I have some tracks planned for one of the artists you suggested in the future, but there are other packs that I have decided to take part in first, and my schedule is pretty much eaten up for the next several months. That is my personal reason, I’m sure there’s other authors interested, but given their work schedule and such, authoring anything would take them a while.
