I figured since we had ‘MURICA week last year, I feel it’s only fair to let the Canadians have a turn to celebrate their country ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />. Canada Day is July 1st, which is a Tuesday. Maybe we can release on Tuesday anyway.
Please refer to this topic made by fellow Canadian, espher for a great list of Canadian artists. viewtopic.php?f=7&t=246&hilit=Required+Canadian+content” onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false;
I am doing these songs:
Len – “Steal My Sunshine”
Serena Ryder – “What I Wouldn’t Do”
Tegan and Sara – “Walking With a Ghost”
December 2, 2013 at 5:07 am #410091Here is a unbiased list http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_bands_from_Canada ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” />
Either way, I will try to at least do “Bad Devil” by Devin Townsend, and possibly “Choke” by Cauterize as they are apparently Canadian according to that list.
Other bands I want but I am not sure I will get the time to do anything with are Leonard Cohen (Avalanche, Halleluja, First We Take Manhattan), 3 Inches of Blood (Deadly Sinners) and Billy Talent (Fallen Leaves, Red Flag, Devil In A Midnight Mass).
December 2, 2013 at 5:19 am #410093The following are considerations:
Keep in mind since this is a lot of songs, I may decide not to do some of them later on.
EDIT: For example, removed “Hallelujah” because I figured I personally would never get to it, due to personally being sick of the song after hearing my brother play and sing it for three years straight. But someone should pick that up.
December 3, 2013 at 5:24 am #410142Should this be a thing. My song choice will be
by Faunts.
January 23, 2014 at 2:53 am #412742Updated OP with better details regarding this pack. Also made a list of potential songs I’ll do.
January 24, 2014 at 12:49 am #412807Potential songs for me:
Mother Mother – (it doesn’t matter since none of you will author them)
Metric – Dead Disco
Crash Test Dummies – Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm (someone needs to do this if I don’t)
Bachman-Turner Overdrive – Let It Ride
Bachman-Turner Overdrive – Takin’ Care of Business
Bachman-Turner Overdrive – You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet (same disclaimer for all of these songs)
Sum 41 – Pain for Pleasure (definitely doing this)
January 24, 2014 at 3:44 pm #412840Skinny Puppy – Assimilate
Skinny Puppy – Dig It
Skinny Puppy – Smothered Hope
Skinny Puppy – Worlock
I will definetly do at least one Skinny Puppy song. Likely one of these.
January 24, 2014 at 5:21 pm #412852Can I request “Too Bad” by Nickelback? I was always disappointed that one never made it to RB3, it’s probably their biggest hit not in the game. Plus it’s from Silver Side Up (before it became cool to hate them) so it’s more likely to be well-received than their later stuff.
Also throwing in a request for “Runaway” by Avril Lavigne. I’d love pretty much anything from The Best Damn Thing, but this one has Travis Barker on drums, so yeah.
January 27, 2014 at 4:18 am #412975I’ve decided to formally sign up for Sum 41’s “Pain for Pleasure”, at the very least. Once we decide when to release this (I agree that Tuesday would be ideal, and then do nothing that Friday), we can get the scheduler entries plotted out.

I do like some of their songs, but I just fear that if we were to do a Nickleback song, someone would see it as a misrepresentation of the country, despite them being one of Canada’s biggest bands, due to the loads of negative attention they get.

Oh, just freaking go for it. I did a Bieber song (not for this pack) and picked up another guy’s Jonas Bros tracks knowing damn well there’s going to be hostility towards it. Hell, I bet Harmonix knew the consequences of adding the Naked Bros, Miley Cyrus, and Nickelback (twice!). I remember reading an interview on IGN about internal arguments over putting Linkin Park in RB2. Besides, it’s not like our 4th of July tracks represented the States all that well. Of the seven songs from there, only three were even about America, and two of those were satirical. So if you wanna add Nickelback to a pack of Canadian content, add Nickelback to a pack of Canadian content.

He raises a good point here. Do as you wish, I personally don’t care, I was just trying to give a word of warning about possible backlash. And knowing that the Nickleback tracks are among some of the most bought DLC from HMX, I’m sure it’ll do fine.
January 27, 2014 at 11:37 am #4129829 out of 10 people who hate Nickelback probably listen to far worse stuff in terms of creativity, composition and execution but hate the band because it’s hip to do so. More importantly how would presenting a song from a country misrepresent it? People can always choose not download the song.
January 27, 2014 at 10:50 pm #413013I hate Nickelback and would strongly support them for this pack, just because they’re so famous and — regrettably — a big part of any “bands from Canada” list.
January 27, 2014 at 11:39 pm #413019For reference, if anyone is looking for suggestions for possible candidates to chart, I’ve got a thread on the request board with some solid choices across a variety of genres.
