Original post:
As the title states, I want to create and release a pack to celebrate Scotland, my home country, in the same fashion as the 4th of July pack released earlier this month. I’d like to release it on November 30th, which is St Andrew’s Day, Scotland’s national day and a public holiday in the country. I’d like your thoughts on this idea and on songs to chart and release for the pack.
I know that November is a long way away but after the release of It’s A Long Way To The Top today (which, with its bagpipes and AC/DC’s Scottish roots, was going to be my first choice for the pack) I thought I’d get the ball rolling before any more potentially suitable songs are released.
First question is what songs to pick. Scotland has a range of great artists, so here are some of my ideas for this pack (Note: that I’m not saying we do all of these, it’s just to give you an idea):
The Proclaimers –
/
Simple Minds –
Stealer’s Wheel – “Stuck in the Middle with You”
Gerry Rafferty –
The Fratellis –
Biffy Clyro –
Franz Ferdinand – “This Fire”
Gun –
/
I really want one of the Gun tracks to happen, they’re not well known but they’re one of my favourite bands in the world. Other possible artists include Garbage, Alestorm, KT Tunstall, and Big Country (who are all already in R:cool:, and Primal Scream, Amy Macdonald, Marillion, Eurythmics, Belle & Sebastian, Bay City Rollers, and more. Loads to pick from.
I was always disappointed that Harmonix never did a Scotland-themed pack, so I’d really like this to happen. Hope I can get you guys on board. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” /> Let me know your thoughts and what songs you’d like to see and then we can talk collaborations.

July 20, 2013 at 8:53 pm #403294I’m still working on KT Tunstall’s “Other Side of the World” as a custom, if you wanna add that.
July 20, 2013 at 8:59 pm #403296The Proclaimers –
I actually have had this for quite some time. I was going to chart it but never got around to finishing it. If you’d like, I can send you the RPP and you can finish it. Tempo map is done, so is drums. I know I started guitar, and I’m not sure if I did bass or not, but if you want it you can. If you want it though, you’ll have to wait until Friday, cause that’s when I get home. But yeah, if you want it and don’t want to start from scratch, you can have it.
July 20, 2013 at 9:32 pm #403299First of all, no mention of Rod Stewart? Ok, not 100% scottish, but come on! I’m gonna put down one of the most iconic Scottish songs, Every Beat of My Heart. I will also submit Eurythmics’ When Tomorrow Comes. I may do more, we’ll see. Nice project!
July 20, 2013 at 10:51 pm #403306Damn it, I knew I forgot someone! A bit of Rod would be excellent Farottone, and Every Beat would be a perfect fit. Thanks! ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
Drummerockband, that would be great, it wouldn’t be a Scotland pack without 500 Miles! I may need help with the vocals but I’m more than happy to take what you have and finish what you started.
Tyler, that’s perfect. If you’re willing to wait til November, that would fit right in. I might look at collaborating with someone on “Another Place to Fall” as well, you can never have enough KT.

Ok, good. But you don’t mind if I’d try to send it into playtesting early, would you? And I wouldn’t mind collaborating on “Another Place to Fall”, since that actually sounds like a good choice for the game. As for “Other Side”, I’m still charting drums on that, since I didn’t even really need to tempo map it, since it stays at one tempo only. If you want, we could both colab on both KT songs. I have a pretty accurate MIDI for a keys track too.
July 20, 2013 at 11:12 pm #403309Sounds good to me, go ahead and stick it in playtesting when you like. Let’s wait a few weeks before we start APTF though, I’ve already got my fingers in a few pies and don’t want to take on more than I can handle right now. And yeah, if you have a good MIDI then even better.

After all, I think it’s only the 2 brothers that sing that one anyway. When the time comes, I’ll see if I can lend a hand with vocals.
July 23, 2013 at 7:47 pm #403409Okay, any thoughts on the others? I would have thought the Simple Minds track would be a popular one…
July 23, 2013 at 8:00 pm #403410Okay, any thoughts on the others? I would have thought the Simple Minds track would be a popular one…Chelsea Dagger is one I’m surprised we never got to see, so hopefully someone take a stab at that.
BTW, I’m finished with charting drums and Pro Keys on Other Side, so I just gotta do vocals, so do you want me to send the project file to you when I’m done?
July 23, 2013 at 10:11 pm #403414Well if it’s alright with the C3 guys I’d say stick it straight into playtesting so we know we’ve definitely got one in the bag. Then we can focus our attention straight onto Another Place to Fall.
If they want to stick to the “no playtesting until 3 weeks before release” rule, however, then sure, I can take a look at it. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
July 23, 2013 at 10:13 pm #403415I may do Don’t You Forget About Me. I don’t remember if it’s interesting enough to do, we’ll see.
I wouldn’t put songs in playtesting right away though, release time is way away.
July 23, 2013 at 10:26 pm #403416Well Farottone if you decide you don’t to, I’m happy to chart/collab on DYFAM. It and 500 Miles are the two I definitely want to happen for this pack. Everything else is just a bonus.
July 23, 2013 at 10:37 pm #403418I may be able to lend a hand with 500 miles, but later this week I’ll send my chart your way and we can work on it from there.
