Any advice for someone who just bought their first home in Massachusetts? I’m trying to figure out all the insurance stuff, and it feels overwhelming. I keep hearing horror stories about people being underinsured when something goes wrong. What should I look out for when setting up my policy, especially when it comes to fire coverage?

Congrats on the new place! Insurance is definitely one of those things you want to get right the first time. When I bought my house, I made sure to ask about replacement cost vs. actual cash value, and what was actually covered (some things like detached garages or sheds can get tricky). Also, document your belongings—it makes claims easier if you ever need them. If you ever want a second opinion or need help with a claim, fire damage claims adjuster has folks who specialize in making sure homeowners are properly covered in MA. It’s always better to double-check before you actually need it!

Buying a home was stressful enough for me without thinking about insurance. But I guess it’s one of those things you’ll be glad you took seriously if anything ever goes wrong.
