How have we gotten this far in the thread with ZERO mention of PRINCE! To me he’s at the top of the list for “songs that would be awesome to play in rock band that could never, ever get officially licensed”. Something like Let’s Go Crazy would just be utterly amazing in Rock Band.

Because none of the charters like him. Can you believe it? This board is just like the Ultimate Setlist board. No matter how much we want something, it ain’t gonna happen.

Whoa, hey, sorry if I rubbed you the wrong way there. I wasn’t complaining that nobody had charted Prince yet- I realize this is entirely a volunteer endeavour and people are going to do the songs they dig. I was just surprised that nobody else in a three-page long wishlist thread on ’80s songs they would like to see had mentioned him yet, that’s all. No knock meant towards the fine folks who chart at all. Honestly some of the things they do that I never wouldn’t have even thought of requesting, like Santo & Johnny, are some of the most awesome things out there.

Well, I for one was really impressed with the work done on the Beach Boys tracks. You did a great job on them.

Well, thanks. All in all they weren’t bad, I went back to fix up with pro keys one of those songs for a theme pack coming in the next weeks or so and I have to say apart from some glaring errors on vocals and wobbly tempo map (they were among the first I had ever done) I was expecting a worst job. They’re not great but once harmonies are touched up I think they still make great party material.

Talking about old school rock, I have to say I’m dying to author the crap out of Chantilly Lace just to be able to sing “Hellllllo baaaaaaby, this is the Big Bopper speaking!”.

It’s great that people are going out there and doing Beach Boys stuff. Unfortunately I think the live version of Good Vibrations that got picked for RB3 wasn’t a good representation of the band. I know Good Vibrations is one of their best songs and all the vocal multitracks for the studio version got trashed, but it’s not as much fun to play when the recording isn’t as good.

The Beach Boys song I think would be most awesome on RB has got to be “It’s About Time”. I know probably hardly anyone here has heard of it, but it’s an amazing, rocking song with great harmonies and absolutely insane drumming by Hal Blaine.

+1 to Baby’s On Fire. Aside from the cover version of Heroes and Schizoid Man on RB5, there’s just not enough completely insane Fripp soloing in RB. Also: Big Star, “O My Soul”. There’s more to power pop than Cheap Trick!
