It does. I’ll check it out tomorrow. Thanks.

+1 to acoustic. Even songs like “Broken” by Seether and Amy Lee, and “The Man Who Sold the World” by Nirvana; would be great to play. I too prefer softer music now and again.

    +1 for “Dead Mans Party”

Disclaimer: I also use Norton Antivirus because it comes free with my internet subscription. But it sucks.

That’s hilarious. I paid for a 2 or 3 year plan, so I’m still stuck with it for a year…counting the days.

I will need to go song for song, but I think it’s finally figured out.

My damn Norton Antivirus was quarantining etools.exe, therefore not effectively merging the files. I went through and re-merged the ones that I knew had issues, and I was able to play them. thank you all for your ideas. If you wouldn’t have mentioned cleaning up my songs.dta file, I would’ve never noticed it.

    You guys are all awesome!!!

    Update:

So I went through my whole list of songs individually, and fixed almost all of my issues. The main issue being that some “songs.dta” files were missing, and I had duplicates that I think were confusing the game.

I still cannot see 10 of my songs including the custom “Misfits” songs, and Metallica “Turn the Page” custom with vocals.

I am getting a “cannot play, song skipping” for both Selena Gomez songs “Naturally” and “Love You Like a Love Song”, and Also, Toadies “Possum Kingdom”.

I don’t understand why those songs won’t show. They are all customs, but not from the C3 Database. Do a select few songs need an additional step? I just don’t know.

in reply to: [How-To] Playing Customs on PS3 #438435

I already checked the filters, but I double-checked to make sure. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the problem. Still working on fixing the not being able to view all songs issue. I think I figured out the Metallica issue, the file made it to the songs folder, but it never merged with the songs.dta file. I haven’t tested it yet, but I’m confident that is the fix.

Anymore suggestions on viewing all of my songs? I noticed I also cannot see any of the Misfits songs either.

I’m hoping this is posted in the right spot, so let’s try this again….

I’m having an issue that I can’t figure out. I have merged “Let it Go”, and FTP’ed it over to my ps3. When I go to my library, it doesn’t show up at all, eventhough I have checked that it is in the “songs.dta”.

I also have “Metallica – Turn The Page”, It’s shows up/previews, but I get the “Song Skipping” message and it sends me back.

Finally, I noticed that at the top of my library it says “Viewing 755 of 1,088 Songs”. I cannot view all of the songs, and I’m wondering what I may have done to make this happen.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can’t get this song to show up on my ps3. It’s listed on my songs.dta, and the folder is there with the rest of my songs. Can anyone help me? My daughters would love to play this. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the misfits info!! Scream is one of my favorites from them.

in reply to: Is it possible to consolidate all Rock Band Songs on HDD? #437868

Okay, so I’ve been doing some thinking and re-reading of my steps. This is what I have come up with.

    1. I didn’t have the “Free Pack” installed and I created the “HMX0756” Folder and the “songs” folder inside of that one.

    2. When you copy over the dlc files to the computer, there is “HMXxxxx” File, then inside of it a “songs” file, then inside of that a folder named after the DLC, and a “songs”dta file. All I did was take the File named after the DLC (Which has a “gen” folder, a mid.edat file, and a mogg file) and I placed it into “songs to merge”. make sure that there is a blank “songs.dta” file in the merged songs folder, or the “songs.dat” file with all of your other songs from your library (which you probably already have), then once all of your DLC is in the “songs to merge” merge them. I double checked all of mine today, and they work just fine. I’m on REBUG 4.65.2 using webman to boot RB3, since I copied mine to my HDD.

I hope this helps. I know you said you have a lot of DLC to to this to, but its so worth it to have them all together. Again, let me know if you have any luck or questions. I will do my best to answer.

in reply to: Is it possible to consolidate all Rock Band Songs on HDD? #437747

The DLC’s were a bit tricky. They did come in their own folders, but its not hard, just tedious. It will be in the same folder as HMX0756, but named its own HMXxxxx folder. I “downloaded” each HMXxxxx folder through FTP onto my computer.

I renamed each HMXxxxx to match the .edat (ie. I made “HMXxxxx” into “cultofpersonality” to match cultofpersonality.mid.edat” I don’t know if this is necessary, but it helped me keep them straight.

Once I did that to all of my songs, then I followed steps 6-9 on my list above. Before I FTP’d them over into “HMX0756”, I deleted the “HMXxxxx” folders that I had originally “downloaded” to my pc through FTP.

Also, the way that worked for me to get them all on one “songs.dta” is; I left my “songs.dta” file that I already had for my library-minus DLC, in the merged songs folder. once I merged my dlc, they were added onto that file and they are now all together in one library on the ps3 since I FTP’d it over.

Let me know if this doesn’t work for you, or if i’m not being clear enough. I am more than happy to help. I just started this stuff about a week ago, and its so freaking cool….but hard to find time for with 3 kids. Best of luck!!

After a lot of reading the forums and some help, yes this is possible. This is how it worked on my PS3. For starters, I was starting with a clean slate (No DLC downloaded from my account yet).

1: connect to psn. to go my downloads and start downloading/installing all of the dlc/export keys you have already purchased.

2:put in Rock Band 1, go to options a the main menu and select export songs. Songs should export if you already paid for the export key. Unfortunately, this doesn’t work with RB2 because the export pack is no longer supported by RB. If I am somehow wrong about this, please let me know how to do this.

3:Now that you have all of the songs that you purchased on you PS3, connect your PC and PS3 with you FTP program (I use Filezilla).

    4. Navigate to “/dev_hdd0/game/BLUS30463/USRDIR/” I had to create the “HMX0756” folder, and the “songs folder inside of that one.

    5. Open up C3Tools run the PS3 Converter to creat the “/ps3” folder. inside of that folder you will have a “merged songs” folder. In the “merged songs” folder, create a blank DTA file named “songs”. I just copied one from one of my songs and deleted all of the information in it, to make it blank, and pasted it into the folder.

    6. take all of your CONS and put them into “songs to merge”

7.open the PS3 converter, click “Tools” then click “merge songs”

    8. All songs should merge and the “songs” DTA file should be merged as well in the “merged songs” file.

    9. Now FTP them all over to the “HMX0756/Songs” that should be it.

Well, indeed there are a few songs that will not work with the PS3 as I realized.

For example there is one song at the database I cannot force to run to save my life.

It’s Beyond Her Tomb by Mic The Microphone and I cannot tell you why and what’s the difference between other songs and this one.

You wrote there are some songs out of the database that don’t work.

Can you name one or two?

And by the way, welcome aboard! <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />

Thank you for the welcoming words, and THANK YOU ALL for all of your guys’ hard work. I figured out the issue I was having. For some reason the many songs that gave me issues wouldn’t work if I used the CON. I downloaded the package file instead, unpacked it, placed the file into the CONS folder in C3Tools, clicked PS3 Converter, then Tools, then “merge songs”. I found that in one of the threads. Thank you for being welcoming to newcomers, and being so helpful. I hope to one day learn enough to help contribute songs to the community.

I’m sorry if this is a dumb question….I’m new here.

I have a nodded PS3. I have downloaded many songs from the C3 database and many custom songs from users in the forum, and I have around 100 or so out of those that will show up in my library, but: won’t play a preview, gets stuck on the loading screen, or just crashes the game entirely.

I feel like I need to do something to these songs because I haven’t read anything from anyone else experiencing this issue. I followed the tutorial and, like I said, many songs work, but many songs don’t.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
