Shame on you, Samjjones! The Hollies were inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame in 2010!

They’ve been recording since 1962, put out 24 albums and over 5 dozen singles in the US and UK.

Lesser known indeed!

I get that these guys aren’t The Who or The Beatles and that they peaked in the 60’s/70’s, but lesser known? To an aficionado like yourself, I find your statement confusing, at best.

I’m just inferring that several of our younger forum colleagues may have never heard of them.

 

I remember when some people here had never heard of Steely Dan, for example, either.

Yup. This could have easily been a 14-pack, and I started on Carrie Anne, but the vocals are quite complicated and guitar didn’t sound interesting to me, which is a big factor in the songs I choose. I may revisit The Hollies again in the future though.

 

In the meantime, I have a nice big 6-pack coming up very soon from a group I’ve already charted.

I thought to myself “Sam sees The Hollies as lesser-known? SAM???? He’s old as dirt!” So telling me that you were speaking for other members makes much more sense. I tried to make my point to my wife by saying “You know The Hollies, right?” She says no. I play her a few songs, she says “Yeah, I heard a couple of them before – kinda obscure.” My reaction:
