Hey guys! So yesterday was my birthday and it just so happened that Weird Al was playing in my town last night as well! I’ve never seen Al and his band in concert before so this has been a long time coming for me as I’ve wanted to see him for so long. I got my pre-sale tickets when they went on sale so I got front row! Anyways, so if you don’t mind the (probably) long read, here is my review and thoughts on the experience.

So I dressed up for this. Me and my brother wore Hawaiian shirts and I also had a Dare to Be Stupid shirt which I wore underneath. I was super excited, I even asked online if people brought Lightsabers and if it was allowed, and from what I read, some people do bring lightsabers, so I decided to bring mine, which also lights up. We got to the venue and we saw a couple of people in Hawaiian shirts as well as someone dressed up as 80’s Weird Al! Pretty cool. I bought a shirt at the merch table as well. I noticed as well it turns out I was the only one who brought a lightsaber toy! I was quite surprised at this but somewhat not surprised since my town is on the smaller side. I personally think most of the people there were there because they knew songs like “Eat It”, “Fat”, and “White and Nerdy”. Anyways, so the we sit down and the lights turn off and bam! “Fun Zone” starts to play before the band comes out. Now I am super hyped. Everyone in the venue is excited and then we see the band come out and where we sat, Steve Jay, Al’s bassist plays directly in front of us since we were in front row. I smiled at him and he looked at me and smiled back! That was so cool! Then the “Tacky” intro where Al walks around the venue and onto the stage was really fun! He didn’t really walk by us since we were on the opposite side of the doors but it was still cool. Anyway so fast forward a bit and so far every song played so far I have sung out loud and I knew every lyric. Nobody else in the front row was really singing along though or dancing which was disappointing. Well I guess Al knows who the real fan is in front row! . So far this concert has been super fun and I was loving every minute of it. Fast forward a bit and “Smells Like Nirvana” starts. I’m thinking to myself…. “Please throw the gargle cup to me, please!” Well, Al did the gargling part and then threw the rest of the cup of water into the crowd and me and my brother got wet! It was great! We didn’t get the cup though, he threw it like 3 rows back, dang! Al played “Another One Rides the Bus” and yes still I have sang everything out loud. He walks over to me and stares me dead in the face and I was just screaming the lyrics out. He nodded at me then walked around different parts of the stage as well. I also screamed at Steve cause he had a part that was really cool and he looked at me and laughed which was totally awesome!! And then, “Wanna B Ur Lovr” starts. Now, I love this song, it is probably my favourite song on “Poodle Hat”. I’ve heard of the stories of this song being played live so I had my camera ready. My dad had a girl sitting beside him so I told him to get his camera ready too cause Al will probably walk right beside him. Sure enough he did and we got some great pics! Another thing I haven’t mentioned yet was the breaks in between songs where the band changes costumes. I LOVED seeing different footage ranging from Comedy Bang! Bang! with Al in it, The Weird Al Show, Al TV, and UHF clips were super awesome and of course I’ve seen tons of stuff Al is in so here I am quoting Ghandi II while it’s playing haha. Yes Eminem, we know what you’re saying . And now I know what to do when I come in contact with “rabbid wolverines”. Anyway fast forward again and here we are. The song I’ve been waiting for all night, “The Saga Begins”! I see the stormtroopers come out and Al and his band dressed like Jedi’s I was just loving every minute of this concert. And now, the stage is dim and I hear “A long long time ago…” AND NOW MY LIGHTSABER IS ON! I was hoping security wasn’t going to tell me to put it away and thankfully they didn’t cause I loved waving it around to the beat of the song. Al came over to me again and saw my lightsaber. It was awesome!! Now the concert is over now and I am still so hyped from what I just saw. This was THE BEST concert I have ever been to in my life and I really hope I’ll get to see Al and his band play again some day. Also, here’s some pics we took if anyone wants to see. I even have a picture of me and my lightsaber during “The Saga Begins”. http://imgur.com/a/t1Knz

Awesome story on seeing Al live!

I saw him earlier this year for the first time myself & was amazed at just how fun & awesome the concert was. I loved all the costume changes he did & all the between bits showing Al in Naked Gun & the Michael Stipe interview where among my favorites.

We had people in tin foil hats & a lot of people dressed up at the show I went to. The intro with him singing Tacky & dancing all the way into where the concert was being held was incredible. He even pushed someone into a reflecting pool on his way in!

I would definitely recommend seeing him just because of the atmosphere & the incredible show he puts on. & hus band doesn’t get nearly enough credit, they all sound amazing.

I’m seeing Weird Al at Radio City next week. I’m really excited to see him. I think it’s the last day of the tour. Can’t wait!

I saw him on the 12th in Fargo/Moorehead. Awesome show! We had so much fun, but I wish I had a better camera or a video camera. At the end of “Wanna b ur lovr” when he’s pointing at one specific girl and singing everything he’s got at her, the lady actually got up and tried to kiss him! He put his hand on her head and held her back! It was hilarious

Love your work! Easily the coolest thing on RB right now. Any chances of getting some clues as to what might be coming up as a teaser?

i’d love to see ‘You don’t love me anymore’ or ‘Talk Soup’ if you’re taking requests, if not. Then that’s fine. I trust your choices.

          Cheers, Have a good one!

I might be up for doing hints if other people are interested. Might have to think of hints that are somewhat difficult though since we already know what the artist is going to be. If other people are interested in me doing hints then by all means, let me know!

          #473857

Hey guys! So I’ve thought about doing hints for a while now, and now that I see a couple of people mention it I’d thought I’d do hints. I’m expecting to release Part 4 sometime this weekend, so here’s a couple of hints to get you thinking. Some of these might be easier/harder then others, I tried to be creative though since we already know who the artist is going to be!

          Song 1:

If Usain Bolt were a girl, she might be flattered to hear lyrics of this song on a Tinder matchup.

          Song 2:

Weird Al has parodied both this artist and their dad before, but this song sounds a little wackier.

          Song 3:

          “You know what I’m sayin’?”

          Song 4:

Some might consider this song to be extremely long, but one thing’s for sure, Bret Michaels could enjoy this song while sipping a hot beverage.

          See you soon!

#1 is “Wanna B Ur Lovr”

#2 is “Party in the CIA”

            #3 might be “Couch Potato”

#4 is *probably* “Trapped in the Drive-Thru” (the Bret Michaels hint is kind of a stretch)

August 28 – “Weird Al” Rock Band Part 4

“Weird Al Yankovic – “Wanna B Ur Lovr”

Fun Fact: Al says this is one of his favourites to play live because the reaction from the crowd is different every time and he has so much fun seeing what the crowd will do every time he plays it.

The Hint: The hint was referring to the lyrics “Girl, you must be Jamaican, because Jamaican me crazy”.

NOTE: I ended up just charting the horns to keys since the keys part and sound effects didn’t really play out well so I opted out.

“Weird Al” Yankovic – “NOW That’s What I Call Polka!

Fun Fact: This is “Weird Al”’s 11th polka medley. The title is a parody of the “Now That’s What I Call Music!” compilation albums.

The Hint: The hint was referring to Al previously parodying “Achy Breaky Heart” by Billy Ray Cyrus with “Achy Breaky Song”, and “Party in the USA” by Miley Cyrus with “Party in the CIA”. This polka includes “Wrecking Ball” by Miley Cyrus. Hence, why this version sounds a little wackier .

“Weird Al” Yankovic – “Couch Potato”

Fun Fact: This was going to be the lead single off of Poodle Hat, but Eminem didn’t want that because he was concerned it would hurt his career, you know what I’m sayin’? AS IF being a “Hardcore Alf fan” doesn’t hurt your career already!

The Hint: The hint was referring to the Al TV interview with Eminem where he kept saying “You know what I’m sayin”? And Al kept screaming at him to shut up.

“Weird Al” Yankovic – “You Don’t Love Me Anymore”

Fun Fact: This track has a hidden track at the end of it called “Bite Me”. Which then makes this track 14:07 according to Wikipedia! The music video is a parody of “More Than Words” by Extreme.

The Hint: The hint was referring to the lyrics “You know, I even think it’s kinda cute the way

You poison my coffee just a little each day” This might be why Bret Michaels of Poison might enjoy this song over a hot beverage!

            SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT TIME!

I am pleased to announce that I have 2 special packs coming up! The next 2 packs will be themed packs and the next pack is a collaborate effort between me and a couple of other authors! This next pack I like to think is going to be pretty huge, so I am really looking forward to it and so should you!

The pack after that is something I have wanted to do for a while and I will finally be doing it once the next pack is released! I don’t want to say too much about it right now cause I could give a hint but I’m pretty sure it would give away, so you’ll just have to be patient!

Thank you for more Al and more polka medleys. I’m hoping for the end of this to be able to play a medley of all of the polka medleys. Just awesome work man, I appreciate it.

I saw Al live this past weekend and the show as great. I didn’t expect the mini-Unplugged set in the middle, that was genius. Lost it for We All Have Cell Phones, too.

I found out after the show one of my friends was on stage as a Storm Trooper for the encore – he is in a local cosplay group so he got hooked up. I’m going to grill him about it when I see him again.
