August 11, 2013 at 5:52 am #404413here’s a question for you guys, since I know you guys hate updates.
it came to my attention that the audio shipped with our files is subpar. I have much better audio. I have already done a proof of concept with Dear Prudence and Helter Skelter, and the audio clarity in the new files is very noticeably better than the audio in the existing files.
why? the original files we are using were in the v5 2.0GB export that was around back in the days. we extracted those moggs, separated each channel, then resampled, adjusted volume, etc, then recompiled…on top of whatever the audio had done to it before we even touched it. point being, we don’t know how many times that audio has been modified, resampled, recompiled (read, compressed), and re-done all over again. it’s been damaged.
I have fresh stems, only ever recorded and never processed in any way. so I would be re-doing the audio essentially from scratch with as good and as clean as possible source files.
That’s benefit 1.
In order to replace the audio in our existing CONs, I have to now turn all these CONs into Magma projects so we can recompile the new stems…this means that for the first time since these songs got “revamped” they are being made to pass Magma…and with the two proof of concept files, I found 4 (minor) errors that Magma pointed out. New files would be 100% Magma approved. That’s benefit 2.
Because now we’re running songs through Magma, that means that the songs with pro upgrades, the upgrades have to pass Magma’s quality checks too, so you’re also guaranteed to have better quality pro upgrades. That’s benefit 3.
We would now end up with fully structured Magma/Reaper projects that lend themselves to future (i.e. RB3 versions) down the road – NOT BY ME!!! , but whomever takes that project on, has less to do. That’s benefit 4.
What’s the downside? You’d have to re-download every single song again. That’s drawback 1. Since i’m recompiling the audio with Magma’s new, higher quality setting, the big pack is most likely going to go from 1.3GB to 2.0GB+ like the old export. That’s drawback 2.
I’m going to go through the process and fix the songs. I think it’s worth it. I want as good as possible a final product.
Do you guys think you want to re-download everything, again, in exchange for considerably better audio quality and fixing of any Magma errors present in our current files?
Would love to hear your thoughts.
August 11, 2013 at 5:58 am #404414Anonymous-snip-Personally, I’m good. I don’t play pro and as long I hear the song playing while I play the game, I’m good. I had no problem at all with any of these songs!…
I’m just waiting for “Hey Jude” to complete my collection
August 11, 2013 at 6:02 am #404415I’m always downloading and re-downloading songs for better quality all around. I’ve probably told you how many times I’ve had to rebuild my own personal packs each week due to C3 releases, random member contributions, Harmonies upgrades and anything else. I’m not afraid of a little more work and download time. Honestly, anyone who’s satisfied with what you’ve currently put out can just not download anything, stick with what they already have while the rest of us who do want your improved work can download it. I would definitely download your entire new project and integrate them into my own pack.
Plus, a band like the Beatles definitely deserves it and gives an even bigger reason to play them in Rock Band 3 over playing them in their own game if the audio levels are noticeably better.
August 11, 2013 at 6:06 am #404416AnonymousI’m not afraid of a little more work and download time.Personally, I wouldn’t mind a little more work+download time either for better sound quality and such… BUT I’m on Dial-Up (Stuck with it. Don’t ask)… All 74 songs are like 1GB+, right? That’s prolly about 4-5months download time on dial-up Kinda see my problem?
August 11, 2013 at 10:24 am #404418Can’t wait to download the new versions, so you have my vote. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”>
August 11, 2013 at 11:52 am #404419I think it is a great idea! You have my vote as well.
Thanks for all your hard work with these songs!
August 11, 2013 at 3:35 pm #404422I’m completely satisfied with the fact I get to play any Beatles in rock band 3 and I think it sounds great now. So I probably wouldn’t download new versions.
August 11, 2013 at 9:19 pm #404436I vote for the update. I have a question for the guy with dial-up or anyone else that doesn’t want this update to happen? Are the versions of the songs you have going to magically stop working on your XBox 360 if he updates what is on his website? No, of course not, so you can simply keep using what you have and those of us that prefer the highest quality songs possible can get just that. Yes, I understand if you have to re-download them you will may have to wait a while. But guess what, life is hard, get a helmet! Keep up the good work TrojanNemo and everyone else!
August 11, 2013 at 9:24 pm #404437I wouldn’t mind, if you think it’s really worth your while to get to.
