Awesome New Wave/Rock Synth Power Pop from the 70s/80s
There are some flipping incredible tracks on their other albums.
Hopefully some of the many talented charters might agree.
Candy-O (1979)
Let’s Go
It’s All I Can Do
Double Life
Candy-O
Lust for Kicks
Shake It Up (1981)
Since You’re Gone
Shake It Up
I’m Not the One
Heartbeat City (1984)
Magic
Drive
Stranger Eyes
You Might Think
Heartbeat City
Even their newest album from a couple years ago has some pretty fun tracks.
Move Like This (2011)
Blue Tip
Too Late
Sad Song
And of course, The Cars self titled debut album is amazing and is already in RB3,
but if any songs are screaming for a redo to fill out harmonies and keyboards,
these puppies have got to be very near the front of the line.
The Cars (1978)
Good Times Roll
My Best Friend’s Girl
Just What I Needed
You’re All I’ve Got Tonight
Bye Bye Love
Moving in Stereo
If any charters were wondering if more tracks or updates from The Cars songs would go over well, my vote is yes.
Super yes.
Thanks again for the great music you all have already put out!
Very much appreciated.
April 18, 2013 at 8:28 pm #398536Oh yes, I’d love to play “Candy-O” in RB3.
April 18, 2013 at 8:41 pm #398537Harmonies for the self-titled album are already available through the Rock Band: Harmonies Project, fyi.

I didn’t know if anyone was doing “ground up” customs of older songs to add harmonies & keys.
I still plan to load those through the RB Harmonies Project, but I figured it couldn’t hurt to mention it here too.
April 18, 2013 at 9:09 pm #398541I don’t believe we plan on re-issuing any Harmonix-issued content, even in RB3 Versions, as a general rule.
This is part of the reason why we ended up deciding to remove TB:RB conversions from the scope of our project.

I’m still newish to all this, but I didn’t know if anyone had redone past songs with both prominent keys and harmonies by extracting the existing song data from the game and merging it with newly created harmonies and keys parts to create a new custom, or if that’s even possible. I assume the majority of the back songs don’t have big keys parts anyway, so it’d be a small number.
But a few standouts, like The Cars, Bob Marley & The Wailers, Boston, Grateful Dead, & Queen, that have both keys and harmonies featured, I thought might benefit from being redone. Especially if all you had to create were the keys and harmony parts and slap them together with the original song. Also, going online with these isn’t a selling point for me since I never played online anyway, so for those I’d be fine without it.
But I think it’s awesome that you guys figured out how to do that for people who want it.
I going to try to load up the whole RBHP into my Xbox tonight without screwing it up.
Looking forward to trying out the new harmonies on past songs and the keys on Final Countdown.
Amazing work.

We don’t release custom versions of songs Harmonix has up for sale. We actually could have more than a few proper multitrack versions with keys of songs Harmonix has done in the past (Moving Pictures and the Boston pack are prime examples) but as things stand, we are not gonna do that. This all works if our songs are an addition, and not an alternative, to what people can buy from Harmonix. Maybe one day, should Harmonix stop selling older songs or if something changes…
April 19, 2013 at 8:34 pm #398577They’ve also recently figured out how to add keys to songs with RBHP-style upgrades (though I think it breaks animations?), so we’d definitely go that route.
April 19, 2013 at 8:42 pm #398578We don’t release custom versions of songs Harmonix has up for sale.Just wanted to say I support this position fully (not that anyone asked ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” />) and I hope you guys stick with it. Not sure your reasoning, but I think it’s a great idea to maintain a symbiotic relationship with Harmonix, rather than a predatory one. Customs don’t exist for the purpose of pirating, they should be complimentary to existing DLC. Good on ya, C3.

Yeah, to be honest, I cringe everytime I see a RBN song being shared as “custom” at some specialty forums. Harmonix deserve every penny they get, and so do the RBN developers. I am really happy every time I read that someone has discovered an official DLC through a custom (like people asking for a custom song not knowing an official version exist).

Like I said, I was just wondering aloud, but that’s a very good reason to not do it.
Also, mine was more of a question if it was possible and how much of a hassle.
If it were something that could be managed by each individual user with the tools available,
maybe there’s a scenario where the keys, harmony parts, & animations are in the file that is
distributed and it’s then on each individual to use whatever program they want to merge that
file with their official dlc file to create the updated track.
If I understand correctly, that’s kinda sorta how the Harmonies Project works anyway, it’s a file that adds
on to existing official HMX dlc to put in harmonies and keys. This would just be a more permanent packaged file.
It would still only be an addition to the song, and you would still need to own the official HMX track to use it.
For the vast majority which are just adding harmonies to the tracks, clearly the RBHP is the way to go and since there’s not too many pre-RB3 songs that have both amazing/prominent keys and harmonies, or just keys parts,
I thought this might be worth asking about.
November 15, 2015 at 5:51 am #459323No rule against bumping old threads here, especially in this section, so, yeah, would love to see stuff from the Heartbreak City album. Especially “Magic” and “Hello Again”.
April 14, 2016 at 9:00 pm #467096Greetings all!
Just wanted to put in my two cents. I personally would love to see stuff from Heartbeat City as well, especially ‘Drive’ and ‘You Might Think’, neither of which, insofar as I am aware, has been released by Harmonix. Also, hadn’t previously heard about the RB Harmonies Project, will be looking into that as well. Thanks, and I hope it sparks someone’s interest!
April 14, 2016 at 9:21 pm #467097I have always loved their album ‘Candy-O’ and would love to see more of that album (all of it if possible) in RB along with their other great tracks.
