For the sake of discussion, I thought it might be fun to gently poke a hornets’ nest by asking people to debate the question: Which is the biggest band/artist that has never had either DLC or a custom released? Obviously “big” is subjective, but I’m thinking major acts that have a big fan following, lots of sales, and that hard-to-define, but you-know-it-when-you-see-it quality, cultural relevance.
Perhaps this can be instructive for customs authors looking fill in the glaring gaps in Rock Band’s setlist. Of course, people are going to (rightfully) chart whatever the hell they want, but still.
So go ahead and argue: what band’s omission is the most surprising? And please, only argue for acts that genuinely have nothing available.
My picks:
Madonna
Prince
Genesis
Ray Charles
the Kinks
Diana Ross/the Supremes
Velvet Underground
Cream
Buddy Holly
Again, these are not necessarily the artists I most want to see get customs, but the ones I think are the biggest. Agree? Disagree? Think I’m a sub-human pile of garbage? Lemme know!
Oh, and if one of these already has something available, then links, pls!

The Moody Blues
Bachman-Turner Overdrive
But seriously, how do we have no Steppenwolf yet?

I don’t know any of these artists.
Only ones I can agree with so far are Prince and Genesis.
November 4, 2013 at 4:56 pm #408840I’m pretty sure that Genesis is the biggest rock act that hasn’t gotten anything yet.
I want to include The Rolling Stones in this list, because Gimme Shelter barely counts and I don’t think anyone’s converted the GH live versions yet.

Yep, got to agree there. Genesis is the biggest rock act that has received nothing at all. Hope that is rectified someday… ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_frown.gif” />
The Rolling Stones are close, but since they have one official song and a bunch of GH converts (Honky Tonk Women, Sympathy for the Devil, the live version of Satisfaction) I don’t know if I would include them since they at least have something.
I would also love to see Steppenwolf, the Kinks and Prince. I do have a custom of the kinks though….it’s a convert from Guitar Hero of: All Day and All Of The Night. I don’t remember where I got it from….probably the FoF forum.
November 4, 2013 at 5:46 pm #408843Real non-cover Black Sabbath is pretty big on the list for me (not counting the GH converts). Just wish 70’s mixes weren’t so hard to chart for Drums
November 4, 2013 at 6:01 pm #408844Is there any Foo Fighters song available? I don’t remember…
November 4, 2013 at 6:09 pm #408846Is there any Foo Fighters song available? I don’t remember…I don’t think so. It would be cool to finally get some No Doubt though as well.
November 4, 2013 at 7:07 pm #408847Nah man, not Foo Fighters. To this day i’m surprised we never got any Queen or Billy Joel. Man what I would have loved to have 30 or so songs from those two.
By the way, everyone seems to keep forgetting that we do have Paint It, Black from The Rolling Stones.

Did you hear that? All the pro keys charters just died simultaneously.

Don’t know who Steppenwolf is, but Born to be Wild was a great 3D IMAX Documentary I saw at home recently. I could take some of those songs ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif” />

You need to turn your sarcasm detector on. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif”>
November 4, 2013 at 8:09 pm #408855And I also strongly suggest expanding your musical exposure. Maybe a trip to http://www.rockband.com/songs/ might also help. They have some great stuff in there ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” />
