Today I am thrilled to bring you the new collaboration between the Spindoctor and I. Hop in the time machine as we take you back to a day when there was only guitar to be a hero at. There was no Rock Band to join. Back to the day where plastic guitars were born, please join us.

 

A little while back we decided to attempt to bring you every Guitar Hero track not already available for RB3. This is installment one.

 

What is the deal these tracks?

1. Tracks from older pre-full band Guitar Hero titles

2. We made much effort to make the audio the best we could, thanks to the Doc’s quiet crowd discovery.

3. Better, more modern reductions

4. On GH 1 tracks, we added a second guitar as bass part so it could at least be social. It is not bass or rhythm guitar. They are just a second guitar part with bass scoring. We thought about putting them on keys to keep the 4x thing going, but the animations looked terrible, so bass it is.

5. Most songs are covers, so a Guitar Hero 1 pic is album art. We aren’t trying to pretend these are original artist’s songs. There are a few originals, those have actual album art. So when clicking the link if it has GH art it is a cover.* Sorry OCD crowd, we did not want to people to be misled by album art. These are the GH 1 cover versions, not originals.

Who will like these tracks

1. People interested in nostalgia of old GH games

2. People who want every damn song they can get to play

3. Completionists who want every track from old days of Guitar Hero

 

Who won’t like these tracks

1. People that want songs by original artists only

2. People who want all instruments only

3. People that are hung up on animations and other aspects being perfect, these are what they are, a way to play old Guitar Hero songs. Please don’t fill the comments with “It would be great if these were full band originals”. If anyone wants to improve these tracks by adding to them, which is doubtful, feel free to contact us. It would be cool, we know and concur. However, reading it 10 times a day isn’t cool at all. Please let those who will enjoy this, do it without negativity added. We were definitely not lazy on this, in fact we are very motivated. That said, there may be things wrong, bringing anything like that to our attention is great so we can fix it.

 

Future installments with other titles are in the works as we speak. There is no need for requests as they will all get done. Yes GH 2, Rocks the 80’s, GH 3 and GH Aerosmith should all get the same treatment in the coming months. This is a large undertaking, if you enjoy these, please encourage us. It is hard to do something like this if it is not appreciated or actually wanted by the community. We do this out of love for the game and it’s players.

Good work guys. Just out of curiosity for someone who has only played some earlier GH games very few times, I take it this game didn’t have actual bass charts (aka the ability to play anything but guitar) within it? Was that introduced in GH 2?

Yeah the first game had guitar only, we added the same guitar chart to bass for the chance to do a duel with your friends, you can’t go by score but by note percentage you can.

We added Multitrack to both guitar parts as well & we are interested to hear feedback as to whether they sound ok with both parts being played at the same time.
