Hey sorry about this if it has come up before, I couldn’t find anything. I had done the process by following the video and it didn’t work. I think it was something to do with the songs on the hard drive I think (I tried doing this ages ago) When I get new customs I put them on the USB then move them onto the hardrive, so my console hardrive has a mix of all Harmonix songs and customs. Do I need to wipe all the songs completlely to make sure these work or not? :ohdear:

I haven’t tried copying anything to my HD, but theoretically, I think if you delete the RB3 song cache on your HD and let it rebuild that it should all work harmoniously.

Yes Mr. Jones is correct I also once moved all customs to my Xbox Hd. Then I reached the dreaded 3000 song limit…..

Had a hard time trying to figure out what was customs & what was DLC in attempting to eliminate songs to get back under the 3000 song limit…

I now keep all customs on USB drive due to the limit issue! Delete your Cache & let it rebuild should fix things Mango.

i would only have customs on the usb stick but have harmonies project on the internal hard drive. keep it simple, then you know where you are, no song limit, plus you can get decent sized usb sticks very cheap these days for customs if you’re worried about space.

but yes delete cache, do above but do your harmony upgrades on a blank TU 5 stick ….. move harmonies to the internal drive. roll it back to TU 4 custom stick and let it build on your cache from TU 5 and then you have everything together using the TU 4 stick for your customs

Sorry I just want to be clear. Two sticks, one with TU 4 and one with TU 5. Customs on 4, Harmonies on 5. Delete cache, Put in TU 5 stick, Move harmonies to hard drive, then replace 5 with 4, and start up the game, where it will rebuild the cache? :ohdear:

So gone through and done it. Still nothing. I manage to get the dummy and real upgrades in and the game recognizes them. I delete the dummy, turn off xbox, and insert the TU4 USB. When I load up the game though the songs are back to one part vocals.

Did you remove the hard drive from your Xbox 360 during this process ?

I haven’t tried the RBHP yet myself. I have watched the Video on how to do it.

I believe your supposed to remove xbox hard drive when doing the RBHP upgrade best I remember.

Perhaps give that a try or go back & watch RBHP install video.

I will be attempting this on my xbox sometime this week.

Please keep me informed on how your install went and what fixed the problem.

    Sorry I couldn’t help more .

Yeah I did. I watched the video and then one of the comments below had a step by step of it listed down, which said to remove the hardrive

I got it, with help from Spin doctor. This is what he said:

Make your RBHP projects & put on USB stick with USB to RB con tool

Put TU4 on the same stick.

    Remove hard drive from Xbox

Insert USB stick & start the Xbox, If it asks where to save, save to USB stick

Load RB3 and it should recognize the two RBHP packs.

    Shut down Xbox

Reinstall hard drive & start Xbox

Start RB3 and let it build your song cache

When it’s done, go to dashboard/systems/storage and remove the small dummy file from the USB

I then shut the Xbox down for a minute.

restart Xbox & RB3 and they should be ready to go..

At no time during this do you ever remove the USB stick.

    Worked like a dream

I still got the same problem, that once I move the dummy file, all the songs are away…at some time in the past, I had it done, that in my rb3 folder on my removable hd, there was the tu4 and the tu5 update…and everything worked perfectly…but my hd crashed and I had to do it again…but this time, I coulnd´t find the mistake…

So now I pulled all my Original RB2/3 Files together with the rb2 export and the tu5 on the 360 hd, the customs and saved games with tu4 on the removable hd, and on my stick there are the RBH Files with another saved game…so when I try to install them, first I delete the song cache, shut the xbox down, then pull my removable hd off, start my xbox, login my account, start rb3 and then it´ll save it on my usb stick…It builds a cache thats bigger than 2 mb, and not like in the youtube video with only about 700 kb…so then I go to my storage and delete the dummy file…off/on, but no rbh files on my rb3…

So I´m asking what I´m doing wrong? How important is it to really turn the 360 off every for at least a minute? And on which storage are your saved game(s), all the tu4 and tu5 updates, and where are your microsoft account?

This is what I would try, Please don’t shoot me if it don’t work, I have a dedicated Xbox that never goes on the net so not to sure about TU5

From what I read here you are using a newer Xbox that Has an internal HD as well as a removable HD

All your songs should be on the removable HD, do not use the internal for anything Rockband or custom related, game saves don’t matter really I have found, they can be left on the removable HD

Delete the Cache on ALL HD, internal, removable & USB

On one usb stick put RBHP Package files plus TU4

    Turn off Xbox

Insert USB with TU4 & RBHP files and turn on Xbox, start RB3, if it asks where to save, save to USB stick

    It should load 2 files

    Shutdown Xbox, insert removable HD

    Restart Xbox & RB3

it should load all your songs

when it finishes, go directly to dashboard/systems/Usb storage and remove the smaller of the two Dummy files

    Do not remove the USB

I then shut down the Xbox, I don,t think you need to but it works for me

Restart Xbox & RB3 your RBHP files should be there.

For Tu5 you should have a second USB stick

It should have TU5 on it

Shut off Xbox and remove the TU4 stick

insert TU5 stick, start Xbox & Rb3, it should ask where to save, save to the TU5 USB stick

All your songs should be there minus the Harmonies

If you want to play customs insert TU4 USB

If you want to play online use TU5 USB

I hope this helps, if it doesn’t I would suggest using the bundler in C3 con tools, it takes awhile but you only have to do it once.

    Thanks for your quick help!

    But first:

I have an old Xbox 360…the first hd drive is the original xbox storage that I could click on it…the second is my removable hd with installed game rb3, game saves, customs and the edited tu4…

So when I wanna do some harmonies files in there, I use a usb stick, with also tu4 on it, a/v-settings and maybe a copy of my main save game…I really delete every time every song cache that even exists, put the new files in rb3, let build a new cache on the stick, then delete the dummy, off/on, and no harmonies files anymore…

    So, my questions:

    – On which HD is your Microsoft Online Profile and do you log in bevor start the rb3? I have my main profile on the 360 hd, even the original songs, exports, and the tu5 update…

    – when rb3 asking if and where to download the new update, where do you located it?

    – Where do you have the edited tu4 update? on both removable hd´s?

    – Usually ich checked it with switching the updates to play custom songs and originals separated…but in the past, I somehow could have both updates on my removable hd with the customs, never been asked to update the game, and could play all songs at the same time! But I don´t remember what I had on my 360 hd, that this could´ve work…

    – So after my removable hd got deleted, since then if I want to play the originals, I always download the tu5 again on my 360 hd, and if I want to play the customs, I delete the tu5 and when asked if and where to download the update at the start, I deny and then can play the customs…but the harmonies files only show up, when both files still exist…

    I have two Xbox 360’s

I have one for online play, it has only the live files I bought and can play online

I have one for customs, it has every song I have on it, I converted all my live files to cons & load customs on it as well.

I am not sure how you got customs to work before with both TU4 & TU5 on your internal or removable hard drive. I am trying to help you in the way I know works, I have done this many times & have read the documentation many times as well. Please try the steps below, if your not willing to try them I can’t help you.

From what I have read & experienced you need 2 USB sticks, They can only be 32gig maximum

insert each stick in your Xbox & format each one

    Put TU5 on one

Put TU4 & the 2 RBHP files on the other

1: Load all your songs to the removable hard drive

2: Remove TU4 & TU5 and any cache or caches from the removable drive. If you have TU5 on your removable drive it is going to load it every time & customs won’t work. Installed games, saved games & profiles can be left on this drive

    3:Shutdown Xbox

4: Insert the USB stick with TU5 on it, Start Xbox & load RB3. It should ask where to save, save to the TU5 USB stick. Let it build the song cache. If it asks what profile to use you can use your online profile

5: Shut down Xbox & remove the TU5 stick

6: Remove the removable hard drive

7: Insert the TU4 USB stick

8: Start Xbox & RB3, if it asks where to save, save to the TU4 USB stick. It should load only two files. If it asks to update click no, if it asks what profile to use you can use your online profile

    9: Shutdown Xbox

10: Put the removable Hard drive back in

!!; Start the Xbox & load Rb3, it should load all your files. If it asks where to save choose TU4 USB stick

12:When it’s done loading go to dashboard/system/USB storage & delete the smaller of the 2 RBHP files

13: Go back to Rb3 and load it, your harmony files should be there.

After doing all this if you want to play online before starting the Xbox insert the TU5 stick & fire up the Xbox & log on as you normally would. It shouldn’t ask to update as you already have the TU5 update on the stick

If you want to play customs insert TU4 stick. Unplug internet connection if you can & fire up the Xbox, log on as you normally would. If it asks you to update it don’t do it or click no.

Please try these steps in the order I put them down. I have done this many times on several different Xbox 360s & it has worked every time.

I am sure other people have similar methods that might work but this is how I do it over and over & over & it has never failed me yet.
