The Cure. Holy crap.I’m actually a little nervous that my wife might leave me for you.
Haha ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” /> I wouldn’t worry about that – my own wife would never let it happen ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />
Have you done signal fire by snow patrol from spiderman 3? Awesome tuneIt is a great song indeed – it’s one that I would definitely consider but I only have until Sunday for customs now so it might not make it in time I’m afraid ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_frown.gif” />

Without wanting to sound too hipster, this band is a bit less well known than the Phonics ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” /> maybe another time though! ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />

The Joy Formidable – The Greatest Light is the Greatest Shade (2x Bass Version)
The Joy Formidable – The Greatest Light is the Greatest Shade (1x Bass Version)
The Joy Formidable – Austere
The Joy Formidable – Whirring (2x Bass Version)
The Joy Formidable – Whirring (1x Bass Version)
Today I have three songs by The Joy Formidable for you. They’re a fantastic band from North Wales formed by girl-and-boyfriend Ritzy Bryan and Rhydian Dafydd in 2008. They specialise in catchy tunes in an alternative, shoegazey style. I’d strongly recommend checking out the songs on YouTube – links above.
All three of these songs featured on their debut EP ‘A Balloon Called Moaning’ and were re-recorded for their first full-length LP ‘The Big Roar’. I prefer the original recordings, but the album version of Whirring has a 4-minute breakdown jam at the end which I couldn’t resist charting, complete with double-bass pedal action and huge guitars. Great fun all around here – enjoy ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />

August 26, 2015 at 12:16 pm #453632Glad to see there are some other Joy Formidable fans here ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
Got another couple of songs lined up, should be ready either tomorrow or maybe later today. Have some hints…
Both of these songs are from the same album. Songs from this album have appeared in both the Rock Band and Guitar Hero franchises.
1) The first song was dedicated in the album’s liner notes to the lead singer of a band that would release its most successful album and singles a couple of years later.
2) The second song features a guest appearance from an artist who released their third, and most successful, solo album in the same year this song was released. They had previously been in a couple of bands, one of which has also been represented in the Rock Band series.
Stay tuned ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />

NEW – 27th August
Oasis – Cast No Shadow
Oasis – Champagne Supernova
My last week of customs continues with two tracks from the first album I ever bought – (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? by Oasis. First up is Cast No Shadow, whose lyrics are as oddly beautiful now as they were 20 years ago (aaaaand now I feel old). This is a lovely song and good fun on all instruments, particularly Drums and Bass, which has a surprisingly noodly part.
Next up is the closing track of the album, Champagne Supernova. This track was a live favourite and it’s easy to see why. The crowning moment is the double guitar solo between Noel Gallagher and guest star Paul Weller. Unfortunately, the fact that they’re both basically improvising at the same time made it quite hard to decide what to chart – I’ve gone for what’s always seemed the most prominent to me, swapping between the two parts. This one is unfortunately not as fun on Bass, but is great fun on the other parts. Enjoy ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
